After an emotional assembly, where Veronica discovered the shocking truth of Jason Blossom's mysterious disappearance and of course Cheryl, his twin sister, announced that the semi formal wouldn't be cancelled and still would be taking place this weekend. The bells had chimed to alert everyone for lunch and the group moved from inside the schools safe walls to the benches.
"You should play us one of your songs, Arch." Betty suggests with that smile.
"I don't know." Archie reacts, already putting it down.
"Come on! We all want to hear it." Betty pushes, widening her eyes like a puppy and Archie unsurprisingly gives in.
"Okay fine, but it's rough." He tells us, taking his laptop out his backpack and setting it up.
"Okay, but I'm just gonna warn you that my face has this thing where I can't hide my reactions. So if it's bad, I'm not going to be able to pretend." I joke.
"Shut up Jones." Archie chuckled, as he looked up to see if we were ready before pressing play.
To my surprise, they're actually really good. Even better than good. I look at Betty, who smiles at Archie as she listens to song, not taking her eyes off him for a second. I can't help but feel slightly jealous.
"Can I join?" Veronica asks, holding her tray and standing besides our table. Archie closes his laptop as soon as the raven-haired girl makes an appearance, and Veronica takes a seat besides Kevin, who is sat besides me.
"Listening to one of Archie's songs." Betty says, happily.
"I thought we were going to have to pretend to like it, but it's actually really good." Kevin admits.
"That was you singing? Something you wrote?" Veronica asks, almost in disbelief.
"It's rough." Archie says.
"No, it's great." Betty defends.
"It was incredible, actually." Veronica nods at Archie and I notice Betty give her a death stare. "Is that your thing? Music?"
Archie nods."Yeah, that's the plan. So how's your first day going?"
"Not to be a complete narcissist, but I thought people would be more-"
"Obsessed with you?" Kevin cuts in, as Veronica lowers her head in shame. "Any other year you'd be trending number one for sure, but this year it's all about Cheryl trying to win the Best Supporting Psycho Oscar for her role as Riverdale High's bereaved red widow." Kevin adds, making us all grin.
