April;

February quickly melted into March and March into April. Soon, it would be May and then summer would follow. Brielle Sommers and her family managed to survive the first few months in Chicago, almost without incident. Brielle's mom, Diane, got a part time job as a housekeeper at a hotel in downtown Chicago. This was especially shocking to Brielle because usually her mother would only be able to hold down a job for a few days at a time before she would get fed up and move on to the next temporary job. She was also more present in the kids' lives. Instead of being gone most of the day and night, Diane was home, cooking and cleaning and holding her own. Brielle couldn't help but be proud of her mother for the commitment she has been showing. As for Cameron, he and his sidekick Carl Gallagher, were together almost every day since the incident a few months ago. They were in the same grade and by the grace of God, Cameron got put into the same class as Carl. Brielle couldn't help but feel bad for the boys' poor teacher. Cameron was doing surprisingly well in school thanks to Carl. Whether he was actually helping him or just letting him cheat, Brielle wasn't too sure. The only real problem Cameron had was in math, which Carl also struggled in. Lucky for the two, that was Brielle's strong suit so she spent a lot of her free time tutoring Cameron and Carl, which required her to spend a lot of time at the Gallagher house. Occasionally, Carl would be okay with coming to Cameron's house, but that was a rare occurrence. Brielle's school life was going relatively smooth, too. It took the girl a few weeks to adjust to the large school and the even larger crowd of students. But once she was settled, she was unstoppable. Her and Ian were in almost every class together, so he became her favorite out of the Gallagher boys. She even managed to make a new friend, thanks to Ian. The girl's name was Mandy Milkovich, and the three of them were practically inseparable. Brielle still talked to Lip occasionally, considering that she spent a lot of her time at his house, that is. Once in a blue moon, Lip would pass Brielle in the hallways and flash a passing smile as he continued on his way to wherever it was he was going. Overall, things were good. A huge change from what the Sommers' kids were used to. Maybe Chicago was the best thing that happened to them.

"Focus." Brielle scorned the two as they shifted in their seats, clearly bored out of their minds. "Finish this problem and I'll let you leave." She pleaded as she slid the math worksheet back in front of the two. Cameron rolled his eyes for about the dozenth time in the past ten minutes before picking up his pencil. Her voice echoed throughout the quiet library. It wasn't common that they were tutored in public, but due to unforeseen circumstances, both the Gallagher and the Sommers' household were off-limits for the time being.

"Now, how do you find the square root of forty-nine?" Brielle asked as she guided the two through the problem, not exactly having a great time herself. She couldn't help but be upset that her mother was virtually nonexistent in Cameron's school life, although she knew that her mother would be no help to him and his need for tutoring due to the fact that she dropped out of high school after finding out she was pregnant with Brielle.
