They made it to Pops by 12 and they sat in one of the free booths. They were sharing laughs and exchanging looks and it all felt like home to them.

"I miss this FP. Us at Pops, having fun. It's exhausting hating you!" This made him smile. It is exactly what he has been thinking for years now.
"Alice, you read my mind. Do you know how much I hated having to resent you. I love you Alice and I always have, I just wish you saw that!" He started to get emotional and Alice was tearing up.
"FP, I love you too. But this between us could never work, out kids are dating it would be impossible. I want it FP but we can't." She was about to get up but she felt FP's hand on hers.
"Alice, don't run away from it. If you want it and a I want it there's no reason for us not to be together!"
"Other than your wife and my husband, FP. They're still part of our lives."

Alice hated Hal, he was abusive and didn't listen. He made her feel awful and never showed her any attention or love. It really was a loveless relationship that was only just held together by their children. She wanted a divorce but he wouldn't ever let her get one.
It was pretty much the same with FP. Gladys left him and Jughead but took their daughter, Jellybean. She hadn't contacted them in years and FP often found he forgot about her, she was never in his mind. He didn't see a reason to focus on someone who was never there when the woman he loved was right in front of him.

FP convinces Alice to stay sat down in the booth and they moved on from the subject of their love after it was made clear that if they wanted to be together they would both have to divorce. They shared a double portion of fries and a large vanilla shake between them enjoying their time together until Jug and Betty came into view of Alices window.
"FP! The kids are here."
"So, they know we know each other Al, it's not a secret." He spoke back to her.
"Forsythe, they think we hate each other now just go with it!"

As Alice heard the bell chime she started to yell "IS THIS WHY YOU ASKED ME TO COME HERE FP, SO YOU COULD BERATE ME ON THE ARTICLE. HELL I DIDN'T PUBLISH IT!" He was taken aback by her acting but followed along never the less.
"Alice, calm down. You're co-owner of the register, you could of told that ass hat not publish the damn thing! And stop making a scene, your making a fool out of yourself!"
"Oh my God, Mom, Mr. Jones can you please stop arguing all the time. It would be amazing to have dinner with you two not arguing for once." Alice and FP shared a look as they obviously sold their performance.
"Sorry, Betty. What are you guys doing here? Is it a half-day?" FP enquired with his sons girlfriend. She simply replied "Yes, now can we all have some food?"

When they were about to sit Betty asked her mother to sit next to FP so she could sit with Jughead.
"Is that necessary, Bet-" she stopped as soon as she saw the glare it received from Betty and sat next to FP. His hand fell to her leg. She felt at home, she was comfortable and so was he.

They ordered food, FP and Alice however, ordered one portion of fries between them as they had just eaten a whole feast together. When their food arrived Alice put her hands in Betty's and turned to FP who had no idea what was going to happen.

"Betty, darling, I have some bad news for you. Me and your father are going to get divorced." Alice loved FP to much to give him up and being here today made her realise it. When she turned to FP he was in utter shock, his hand, still on her leg, gripped harder out of shock and excitement. He was really going to get a second chance with his love. "I know it's so sudden but I haven't been happy for years and there's someone else... in his life" She made sure to make it clear to FP that someone else was him but she added the "in his life" so it didn't turn sour for her.
"Mom, it's okay. I just want you to be happy and I need to tell you something. Dad is seeing Penelope Blossom."
"What, how do you know about that?" She was genuinely curious.
"Did you already know?"
"Yes, Betty. FP told me." She accidentally let it slip but hoped their kids didn't notice and they didn't.

After the news hit them, it was silent for a few minutes and then all of a sudden it was 2pm. Alice got up out of the booth and announced she was going to see Hal at the register so when she left, the two kids and FP stayed and enjoyed their meal.

When Alice arrived at the register she saw Hal at his desk looking smug as ever. She hated his face, his love (what little of it there was), hell she just hated him. How could she have married such a rotten man. Regardless she walked in to announce the "good news" to him.
"Alice." He didn't even look up but she gave him no time to do or say anything.
"Hal, I want a divorce! I am done with this marriage. I'm done with you-" she barely stuttered out through tears as she watched him stand up and take a hold of her wrists.
"Oh, Alice. What have you just done?" He smirked and chuckled, she feared for what he had planned.
