By nightfall, the four mages made it back to the squad house and explained what happened on the mission to their captain. Captain Yami laughed. "Sounds like you guys went through hell." Captain Yami said and laughed.

'Is he really laughing?' [Y/n] thought and stared down at her feet.

"Hey, Captain, I don't think this is a laughing matter." Asta said.

"Being depressed isn't going to bring Old Man Seyhe back. Right?" Captain Yami questioned.

"Yes, sir. It's just as you say, sir. Old Man Seyhe liked to see everyone happy and energetic. Come on. You guys should laugh, too. Come on!" Magna said. Asta began to fake laugh.

"Louder!" Magna demanded and started to laugh.

[Y/n] could tell he was hurting inside. "You, too, Lady Noe! [Y/n], too!"

Much to [Y/n]'s dismay, the four mages were laughing together. It made [Y/n] uncomfortable; she'd just witness a soul fade in front of her eyes. "That's how it should be. What happened to Old Man Seyhe is a real shame, but you four were able to protect the villagers." Yami said, "Be proud of that. Well done. Good job, you idiots."

"Yes, sir!" Magna saluted.

"Thanks." Noelle muttered while looking away, and Yami laughed.

"What's that?" Asta asked, noticing Magna's sault. "You moron! You don't even know the Magic Knight's salute?! Take a good look! These fingers symbolize the clover. Go on, try it." Magna explained, and Asta saluted.

[Y/n] saluted as well, and her eyes sparkled. Being a Magic Knight still didn't feel real. It was like a long dream.

"Well done!"

Then, a portal opened behind us. "We're back." Finral announced.

"Good job, you four." Vanessa praised, and [Y/n] smiled.

"Vanessa-neesan! Finral-san!" Asta said.

"Captain, we went to the Magic Investigation Department." Finral said.

"Good. Did you find anything?" Captain Yami asked.

"Who the heck is behind all of this?!" Magna questioned, "I'll find their hideout and raid it! I'll beat the crap out of the guy who got away, too!"

"Well, you see, the investigated the item he left behind, but still have no clue." Vanessa said.

"How useless can they be?!" Magna said and threw a fireball at the wall out of frustration. It left a hole in the brick wall.

"You fool! Stop breaking stuff!" Yami yelled while punching a huge hole in the wall.

"Sorry!" Magna apologized.

"But the pocket watch is pretty nice." Finral said.

"Yes, and from what you said about how they were acting, they were all of very high status." Vanessa said.

"And they kept calling me, princess....it was weird." [Y/n] muttered, "Could they have been from the Royal Captial?"

"So they're royalty or nobles." Magna growled.

Suddenly, the bird from earlier popped out of Asta's head. "Oh, who's this little guy? He's adorable." Vanessa said.

"How's it adorable?!" Asta yelled. "I-It is adorable." Noelle said, and the bird began to peck Asta's head.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow!" Asta yelled.

"Here, birdie, birdie." [Y/n] called, and it landed in her hands, "It is adorable."
