Selena

After my date with Parker, all I could think about was him. I couldn't wait to hang out with him again. The only problem was other people had something in mind for us.

I walked into the school and over to my locker to grab some books when I overheard some girls talking.

"I can't believe you have a date with one of the Gray Brothers," one girl mentioned.

I peeked around my locker door.

"Now that he's a free agent, I can't wait to go out with him. He is so hot," another girl said.

"How did you get him to agree? He usually refuses to date," the other girl told her.

"I just asked him, and he said yes," she shrugged.

The only one I knew that refused to date is Parker unless that was a coverup, and he duped me. I am such an idiot.

I closed my locker door and walked away without hearing the rest of the conversation.

"So, where is Patton taking you?" A girl asked.

"We're going to see a movie. I can't wait." The girl smiled.

As I walked down the hallway, Parker saw me, and I saw him. He smiled. I turned and walked away. I didn't need to hear his excuses or reasons. I was stupid for thinking whatever was happening between us was real.

The only problem was I didn't make it to class. Someone grabbed me, dragged me into an empty classroom, and before I said anything, I felt a fist connect to my fist, not once but a few times.

I fell to my knees as I touched my face, then saw blood. Oh god. They grabbed my head as I looked at them to find Shaun standing there. "It looks like the Grays aren't here to protect you now, are they? They want to mess with me, then they will find out what I'm capable of doing," he growled at me as he shoved my head away.

I heard his footsteps leave as I stayed there, trying to get the bleeding to stop. I worked to pull my hoodie off to stop the bleeding. I think I was better on the streets at this point.

I got to my feet and stumble to the door. Gripping the handle, I left a blood trail behind as I staggered through the hallways as people stopped and watched me. Then I heard Presley's voice, "Selena? What happened?"

"Nothing, I'm leaving," I answered as I held my hoodie to my face, which blood covered it.

"I'll go get Park," he mentioned.

"Don't bother. I'm done with Parker," I spat as I pushed past him and staggered out of the school. I wanted nothing to do with that family anymore. Because of them, they lie, and I got hurt. I would stay somewhere else and fend for myself. I was used to it.

Parker

I went looking for Selena, then Presley ran up to me, "Park!"

"Not now, Presley, I'm trying to find Selena," I told him as I walked.

"I know what happened to her," he exclaimed as I stopped and looked at him. "Something happened, she's bloody and left."

"What?" I questioned him.

"I don't know what exactly happened, but she was holding her hoodie to her nose," he answered as I furrowed my brows. Then we turned and ran. I don't know what happened, but someone was getting their ass beat when I found out.

We left the school and saw a blood trail, then noticed someone on the ground - Selena. I ran over to find her gripping her hoodie, and there was a lot of blood. When I touched her, she lashed out at me.

"Don't touch me," she screamed.

"Selena, let me help you," I offered.

"Go back to the girl you're taking out, you liar," she spat.

Girl? What girl?

She pushed my hands away as she tried to get to her knees. She stood up.

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

She swayed on her feet. "I heard some girls talking about how they finally got a Gray brother to agree to a date because he refuses to date. So, go on your precious data. I don't need you or any of you," she spat as I looked at her.

"The last time I checked, you're the only girl I'm dating," I informed her, getting irritated.

"Well, now you're free to date whoever the hell you want. Don't worry about me; I'll find another place to live and go back to digging through dumpsters. At least I know that's real because it's easier than having your heart crushed," she spoke through glassy eyes as she turned and staggered away.

"Go after her, you tool," Presley yelled at me as I left him and went after her. No way was I going to let her off that easy.

When I reached her, she fought me. "Let me go!" Selena screamed.

"No!" I barked as she continued to fight me. "You can't make me fall in love with you, then push me away! You hear me!" I yelled at her as she cried.

"Please," she begged me as she cried.

"No, it's not happening this time. I don't care what you heard, I'm not giving you up, and you can't make me. It took me too long to open up to someone, only to walk out of my life because of something they heard. You can hate me, but my heart refuses to let you go," I said honestly. Tears fell down my cheeks. Then she caved as she cried, and I held her.

I picked her up and carried her bridal style to the car as she buried her head into my chest. I fell deeply in love with Selena. I tried to deny it, but the minute she walked through our front door was the minute I knew I was in deep shit with my feelings.

I took her home and brought her inside to take care of her. I set her on the couch as I went to get something to clean her up, then get an ice pack for her nose. Once I cleaned her up, I gently applied the ice pack to her face as she winced in pain.

"Yeah, getting your nose busted sucks. Trust me; I've had my busted many times thanks to my brothers," I told her. "So, care to explain to me why you assume it was me they were discussing."

"They said they finally got a Gray Brother to go out with them that refuses to date. I figured it was you," she sighed.

"Then you figured wrong because I'm not the only brother that refuses to date, and considering I'm dating you, then that doesn't apply," I reasoned.

"What do you mean?" She asked curiously.

"Patton refuses to date. He won't date period," I told her.

"But I saw him talking to a girl at the dance," she mentioned.

"Yeah, it's talking. It doesn't mean Patton's dating the girl. My brother makes out with chicks, talks to them, but refuses to date the girl. He has some weird-ass high standard about who he wants to tie himself down with," I explained.

"So, he's using them?" She looked at me, questionably.

"Nope, he tells them upfront he doesn't date. If a girl assumes it's more, then that's her problem. Assume nothing. Now, should I get you a trampoline, or are we good?" I questioned.

She sighed, "No, you need not get me a damn trampoline."

"Okay, then care to tell me who hit you?" I asked, wanting answers.

She looked at me, then answered, "Shaun."

I looked at her as I felt rage rip through me.

"He touched you," I spoke through gritted teeth.

"Said I didn't have the brothers to protect me, and it was a warning," she said as she gave me a look that I knew all too well. Uncle Nixon told me about what some guy did to nana. The one thing the Grays dislike is when a guy hits a girl because he thinks he can.

The only time we went after a girl was when they deserved it. Trust me; they deserved it. I stood up as Selena reached for me, grabbing my arm as I looked at her.

"Please don't leave me," she begged as I looked at her. Something told me she needed me at this moment. I sat back down and stayed. I would deal with Shaun later, but Selena needed me now.
