Parker

I ran after Shaun and caught up with him. I stopped him as he looked at me.

"Look, I know we rarely get along, but you shouldn't be alone," I reasoned as he looked at me.

"Why not? It's not like anyone cares anyway," he said. I stood there and looked at him with concern. "Do you have any idea what it's like to come to a family that makes your life a living hell?"

"I got a clue," I mentioned.

"Parker, I'm an alcoholic, gay, and homeless. My sister is the devil incarnate, and my older brother's tired of bailing me out when I get into a fix with you and your brothers. My parents don't accept homosexuality, and I have no place to go. You wouldn't understand because you have a family that loves you, albeit crazy, but they still love you. I have no one, so please leave me alone," he said as he walked away into the chilly night air.

I couldn't help but feel empathy for Shawn. Then an idea planned in my mind as I turned and went back home.

Shaun

I don't even know why I went to see Parker. It's not like we were friends. He made himself clear. I made my way to a diner and went inside it. I sat down in a back booth. Digging into my pockets, I pulled out whatever cash I had on me, about five bucks.

I ordered a hot chocolate since I didn't have much money and needed to figure out what I would do. The waitress brought me a hot chocolate, and I took a sip from it. I stared out of the window and wondered what the hell happened to my life.

I drank to hide the fact I was gay. I did what Sable wanted, so I didn't have to deal with her. Ben barely tolerated me. Now, none of it mattered. I wanted a drink right now.

I got so lost in my thoughts; I didn't see someone sit down across from me. I turned to see an older guy sitting there and looked at him strangely.

"Did you need something?" I asked him.

He looked at me and said, "No, but I know you need something."

"Like what?" I asked.

"Help," the guy answered as I looked at him.

"Yeah, right," I scoffed as I drank my hot chocolate. No one could help me. Hell, I didn't even have one friend, let alone anyone wanting to help me.

"So, I'm guessing you got the number of that truck that hit you," the guy mentioned as they gestured to my face.

"Yeah, his name is dad," I mumbled.

"Dad. That's a new one to me. I'm guessing this dad is probably the biggest tool to walk the face of the earth since he not only put his hands on his kid but also decided that he isn't a parent," he commented.

I looked at him.

"Because if he were, he wouldn't have tossed his kid out for being who he is. See, our kids don't always choose who their parents are, but they get to be who they are. It's our jobs as parents to accept it," he explained.

"You sound like you know something about this?" I asked him.

"Have you met my sons, Frick and Frack? Frick likes to give me a hard time, and Frack makes the wrong choices with love," he told me as I looked at him. "See, Frack, aka Kaiden was afraid to tell me that he was gay. He thought I wouldn't understand, which caused an argument and made me want to drink. The thing was, I realized I couldn't resort to the bottle and explain to my boy that no matter what, I would love him."

"And things were good between you both after that?" I asked him curiously.

"Mostly, he still drives me up the wall along with his brother Frick aka Kain. The thing is, no matter what, I love my boys even if one is light in the loafers," he commented as I looked at him strangely. Then he smirked. This guy was bizarre.

"Nix, what are you doing?" Another guy asked, walking up and sliding in next to him.

"I'm helping Nashville," he retorted as the other guy hauled off and smacked him, earning a look from the one guy.

"Don't call me that," he told him.

I sat there as he turned to me. "Ignore my brother. His mouth runs over. Are you Shaun?"

"Yeah, who are you?" I asked.

"I'm Nash, and this is Nixon," he introduced them both as he ordered some food. "I'm also Parker's grandpa."

I sat there, not saying anything.

"I see Jon has been at it again," Nash mentioned as he pointed at my face.

"You know my dad," I asked him.

"Considering he went to school with our kids, yep," he answered.

"The dude was a prick back then, and I'm guessing things have changed little," Nixon commented.

I sat there. I didn't want to talk about my dad. I already felt like hell; I didn't need a reminder. A waitress returned and brought plates of sandwiches over to us. She set a plate in front of me, and I furrowed my brows. I pushed it away.

"Not hungry?" Nixon asked as he took a bite of his sandwich.

"No," I answered, trying to avoid the fact I didn't have the money to pay for it.

"You sure?" He questioned.

"Yeah, I'm sure. Look, I got to go," I said as I slid out of the booth and walked away. I didn't need pity, and I didn't need charity. I needed to find a place to stay. I also had to find something to eat, get a job, and finish high school.

I walked as the wind picked up, making the air biting. January in Michigan was a bitch. The first place I found and camped out. It was some abandoned building. It didn't have heat, but I could scrounge for blankets. I found a few things and huddled up with it. I sat there, pulled my knees up to my chest, lowered my head down, and cried. According to my dad, I know it wasn't manly, but I'm tired of feeling alone.

I heard movement and lifted my head to see two guys sitting on each side of me. I looked at them as they sat there.

"Are we bothering you?" One guy asked.

I looked at them, a bit confused.

"Nah, we aren't bothering him," the other one said.

"Who are you?" I asked them.

"I'm Nathan, and that's Noah," the one guy introduced them. Noah waved at me and grinned. "Now, since you decided not to do this the easy way, I guess you leave us no choice."

I looked at them and asked, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, we're going to do this the Gray way," Noah added as he whistled as three guys emerged, two of them being Nash and Nixon. My eyes widened as they worked quickly. The next thing I knew, I was sitting in the back seat, bound and gagged between Nathan and Noah.

"This seems like old times," a fifth guy reminded them.

"Nolan, history always repeats itself," Nash told him as he drove away with me still bound and gagged in the backseat. I didn't know what would happen now, but I had a feeling my life was about to change drastically, and someone was going to have a significant impact on it.
