Don't ever seal someone else's work, just because they show you what they've done doesn't give you the right to dictate what they do with it. Just because they make something while in a collaboration, doesn't mean it's for you unless they say so. Just because you said you'd help, doesn't mean you now own it.

You can't go around and make excuses of "I don't make money from what I steal". If that was okay, all those art thieves wouldn't be in the wrong. You can't own something without legal documentation, this does include paying for it or getting it as a gift with written proof it was for you. I shared art work to a collaboration because I thought it'd be fun, the person I was working with automatically thought it was for them, and started telling me that everything was wrong. It was elemental chart, they said "there's like 40 elements, make more", it was makes for a series with 8 elements. No.

Claiming that something belongs to you and that you can now use it without giving credit is beyond retarded. Without actual permission you can't use it. You can take the idea and shape into your want, but just because someone can make up an interesting concept and you can't doesn't give you the right to steal the concept from them then insult them. You can't go around saying that things have to be created from ex nihilo, essentially nothing, then go around steal from other people. That's hypocrisy.  "The way they described it, it was something that had never been done before. Like ever. It was something brand new that had no inspiration or background. "Purely Original" as to say."

Nothing is original but everything can be unique, the concept has to be your way of doing it, not someone else's. "Oh , but I got permission to use the idea" from who? A collaboration entails that the person who came up with the idea is the one who makes the decisions, not the random person who thinks that they can go into a collaboration, take over and call every asset their own work.

Certain character types and story ideas are overused, it's how you do it. Like I said, concept. You can't take someone else's concept, I've said that one before as well. If you can't make up a good and interesting story idea, it's not okay to take it from other people because you want to be popular. And your ideas stop at "rich girl wants more than what she already has then gets magic book and nothing happens" then you probably should start doing research. It's not illegal to take inspiration or do "based off of", it is illegal to steal word for word from someone else's work.

I want that to die, the thought that if something isn't made from ex nihilo that it's bad.

Tip of the day: if you start a fight, don't demand an apology from the other person.
