THE NEXT DAY

"Will you stop following me!?"

"I know something's bothering you..."

"I thought it was just a tale... It's real?"

"You wanna hear a story?"

"You have to let your guard down..."

"It was never your fault to begin with..."

"Not bad kid!"

"Promise me the pain will go away?"
"....I promise."

I feel his presence. The only one that truly saw something in me that I don't see in myself, it was him! But who's to say that he'll be there for me? I saw a hand held out for me. "Can we start over?" He asked. I lightly chuckled and shook his hand. "Of course! What's your name?" I asked and then it became so bright that I can't see him.

My name is...

RUMOR!!!

The dark haired girl jolted up and looked to see her grandfather staring at her through the rear view mirror. "Come on we're almost there! Get up!" The elderly man was hit on his hand by his wife. "What papa means to say is it's time to go to school." Ru's grandmother said. The car drove and passed by many various buildings.

What was that dream? Did I imagined it? Or am I that sleep deprived? She thought to herself, continuing to gaze out of her window.

Rumor looked down to see Veto, peaking out of her backpack. She shook her head and gently patted the robotic dog downwards. She zipped up her backpack a little bit and continued to gaze outside of her window. She sighed deeply as she saw some of the teenagers walking or skating passed her. Then she saw the sign entrance to the school.

"Why can't I just stay home?" She softly said to herself. But her grandpa overheard her. "Ru, the scholarship you're on pays for everything. We are not having this discussion." Her grandpa had an exasperated look on his face.

Rumor leaned forward so that she was facing both of her grandparents. "I just think that this school scams their clients." "Scams?" "And I'd prefer to be homeschooled, so I can teach myself on my own terms without it costing us anything!" Their granddaughter finished. "On your own terms? But here you can be with others that's close to your age!" Her grandma gestured to everyone walking passed the car.

"Mama I'm only here because Amaiya recommended me!" Rumor said as she leaned back against the car seat. "Rumor Charity Osiris, you know that you're here because you passed the entrance exam just like everyone else. Your cousin didn't have anything to do with it! And you have so much potential for this world Ru. Sometimes, I wish you can see it in yourself like how we see it." Her grandmother gazing at her conflicted granddaughter.

Rumors calmed down as she unfurled her eyebrows. She seemed to have calmed down for the most part and gazed at the people passing by...Until her grandfather spoke up. "And you have an opportunity here to prove everyone wrong! You want to give all this up? You want to end up like that Isaiah fellow?" Rumors eyes widened a little and glared at her grandfather.

"And what's wrong with him huh? He was a good man! Him and dad taught me everything I need to know! From learning about technology to self defense techniques! Saying his name in vain is not only disrespecting him but disrespecting me and Ruhiya as well!" She said, directing every single word at her grandfather.
