We Do Matter

We do matter,
We make up the world

We do matter,
We mean the world

We do matter,
We are the world

And because we do matter,
We deserve love
But instead we get hate

See people walk down the street,
Woman and woman,
Man and man,
Hand-in-hand

We do matter,
We do matter

See people driving a nice car,
Not being pulled over by the police,
Not arrested,
Not shot

We do matter,
We do matter

See women work construction,
Owning businesses,
Playing sports,
Being true to themselves

We do matter,
We do matter

See immigrants not bullied,
Not yelled at,
Not attacked,
Not afraid

See students not cowering under desks,
Not terrified for their lives,
Not praying to see another day,
Just learning

See everyone being happy
With harmony and peace,
Not hate nor violence,
Not discrimination nor oppression

WE DO MATTER

Listen up, hear what we want to say:
We are the people of the United States of America,
And we do matter
