Danny was at his locker when Lily approached him. "Oh hey Lil," Danny smiled a bit taken aback by the fact that she had come over to talk to him. "I really liked your performance in Glee Club today," Lily said honestly. "Thanks. I mean I kind of was singing it to someone special," Danny said. "The Tubbingtons?" Lily asked as Danny chuckled a bit. "No. I was singing it to you," Danny said as Lily looked surprised even though she had thought he was singing to her the fact that he confirmed it was a shock to her. "You wouldn't want me," Lily frowned shaking her head. "Look, I know you're pregnant. I've always cared about you Lily and if you're not in a relationship I would really like a chance to you know be with you," Danny said finally admitting how he felt as Lily looked down at the ground. "I can't do this...I'm sorry," Lily said emotionally as she rushed off. Danny had always been so sweet to her. The last thing she wanted was to make him hate her which was exactly what she thought would happen if he learned the truth about who she was having this baby with.
Back in the choir room Tracy is busy practicing by warming up as some of the others are talking about the big news in the club. "Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me," Tracy sang playing at the piano. "I still am in shock about Lily. Val, you have to know what's going on there," Chris said as Valentina gave him a look. "Of course I know," Valentina said rolling her eyes as the others leaned in wanting to get the dirt "But she's my sister and it's for her to tell you. Not me." "I think that's fair enough," Hepburn said as some of the others didn't look satisfied especially Tracy who seemed annoyed by the gossiping.
"If you guys spend as much time working on your songs as you did gossiping about Lily we would prove why we're the best show choir in the Nation," Tracy said with a roll in her voice. "Oh like you're not curious about what's going on with Lily," Chris shot back. "The only thing that concerns me is how this is going to affect us as a team. Lily's one of our best dancers and as she gets more and more pregnant she won't be able to do the routines dooming us," Tracy lamented. "While I agree that Lily is our best dancer, I wouldn't say we're doomed," Valentina said shaking her head. "Oh like any of you can put the effort in that she does?" Tracy huffed annoyed. "Are you kidding? I'm captain of the cheerios, do you know how much effort goes into those routines?" Valentina snapped back. "Oh yes going 'Yay team' is sooooo hard," Tracy said sarcastically imitating a cheerleader. "Listen here little miss Broadway, you have no idea how much it takes to be a strong performer. Yes, you demanded every solo in this club and the starring roles in every school production but you put more effort into proving why everyone else is wrong than why you are right to have it all to begin with," Valentina said hands on hips as Tracy scoffed, how could she talk to her like that? "She kind of has a point Trace," Hepburn said as Valentina smirked. "I can't believe my own twin brother turned on me!" Tracy huffed as she grabbed her sheet music annoyed. "You know what? Continue to gossip and waste your time on it. I don't care. I, however am going to be working on winning us our seventh consecutive national championship and if any of you care about the club, I suggest you do the same," Tracy said as she stormed off leaving the choir room.
"Is she always that intense?" Lexi chuckled. "Only all the time," Hepburn said shaking his head. "Just ignore her. I always do," Valentina shrugged as Hollie and Candice, the two shyest of the group exchanged looks thinking Tracy might have a point that the group was unfocused, they could only hope over time that things would get better, they had to didn't they?
Later that day at Hummel Tires and Lube, Christine and Hepburn were reading over the music to the Kelly Clarkson song 'People Like Us'. "Oh, people like us we've gotta stick together. Keep your head up nothing lasts forever. Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten," Christine and Hepburn harmonized. "It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom," Christine sang as she was going to the chorus but saw Hepburn looking down nervously as she stopped herself from singing. "Hey..." Christine said as Hepburn still looked down as Christine tried to meet his gaze "Are you okay?" Hepburn took a huge sigh shaking his head. "Well whatever it is, you know you can talk to me," Christine said comfortingly as Hepburn looked back at her almost wanting to admit the truth. "Okay...." Hepburn sighed "But you have to promise me this stays between us." "Cross my heart," Christine said doing a sign across her heart. "You know how you asked me why I was happy to be paired with you when this assignment first started?" Hepburn asked as Christine nodded as Hepburn took a deep breath. "It's not just because we've always gotten along...it's because...I'm gay," Hepburn admitted for the first time as Christine looked shocked. "So that's why you didn't want to be with the cheerleaders...since they'd all try to date you," Christine said as Hepburn nodded. "Exactly," he sighed "I'm not ready to tell everyone yet...but this is my first step to being true to who I really am." Christine hugged Hepburn tightly proud of him. "You are still my baby cousin and I love you," Christine told him seriously as Hepburn smiled back at her. "Thanks...that really means a lot," Hepburn said emotionally. "You're welcome. You know you can always come to me with anything," Christine said. "I know. Thanks for always being there," Hepburn smiled. "You're welcome," Christine smiled hugging him again as the two bonded closer together than ever before.
The next day at school was the final day of the week, and the last of the 'People Like Us' lesson. "Guys, I have to say I was really impressed that you all dug deep with this assignment," Sam smiled as the New Directions cheered. "True to the tradition of this club, we're going to finish up the week with a group song that I think sums up this club as a whole," Sam said as the New Directions all looked at the sheet music nodding, feeling closer together than before as the music for Kelly Clarkson's 'People Like Us' kicked in.
"Hey everybody loses it. Everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes," Hollie sang her rich voice shining through as she looked nervously at the New Directions hoping for their approval. "And hey," Christine sang as she put a supportive arm around Hollie who seemed grateful for the support. "Yeah I know what you're going through Don't let it get the best of you, you'll make it out alive," Christine sang turning somewhat towards Hepburn. "Oh," Christine sang. "People like us we've gotta stick together. Keep your head up, nothing lasts forever. Here's to the damned to the lost and forgotten. It's hard to get high," Hepburn and Christine harmonized. "When you're living on the bottom," Christine sang as the group joined in. "Oh woah oh oh woah oh. We are all misfits living in a world on fire. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. You've just gotta turn it up loud when the flames get higher. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us. They can't do nothing to you, they can't do nothing to me. This is the life that we choose, this is the life that we bleed. So throw your fists in the air, come out, come out if you dare. Tonight we're gonna change forever," the New Directions all sang in sync with each other as Tracy stepped up to take the lead. "Everybody loses it, Everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes," Tracy sang in her typical dramatic way as Lexi then took over. "Oh, people like us we've gotta stick together. Keep your head up nothing lasts forever. Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten. It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom," Lexi sang as the other joined in once again on the chorus. "Oh woah oh oh woah oh. We are all misfits living in a world on fire. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. You've just got to turn it up loud when the flames get higher," the New Directions sang. "When the flames get higher," Valentina sang. "Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. We're all misfits living in a world on fire. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. You've just got to turn it up loud when the flames get higher. Oh woah oh oh woah oh. Sing it for the people like us, the people like us," the New Directions sang as they finished the song all feeling more connected to one another than they had before as they celebrated their very first week of the year ending.
