LIKE I LET YOU

I took a large swig from the glass bottle,

resting tightly in my hand.

The liquid burnt as it crawled

down my throat,

just like the lies you fed me.

I took a puff from my cigarette,

and let the smoke suffocate me,

just like I let you.

Even when I'm not sober,

I still remember you so vividly.

But shouldn't I be forgetting you?

Isn't that how it's supposed to go?
