WHITE NOISE

As a new lover lay
underneath her,
she couldn't help but
think of the one
she lost.

Careful not to speak
the name of the one
that last occupied the
empty space in her
bed.

A name that
continuously straddled
the tip of her tongue,
and threatened
to slip out amongst her
sighs of gratification.

She hoped moving on
would rid her of
the memories,
but instead,
finding another
only turned them
all into white noise.
