We sat beneath the stars,
sharing a heavy,
woollen blanket
that held us both tightly
as it fought off
the snaps of winter's chill.

You lifted your head
from my shoulder
and looked up at me,
your eyes full of
light and warmth.

You smiled.

So did I.

And for once,

I think the stars did too.
