The girls have taken over Evie and it's been a week since I spent time with her. I actually miss her, it's crazy. I know nothing about her and when I did spend time with her she barely spoke to me or hid in her room. I haven't felt this way about anyone since Lisa. I never thought I would feel that way ever again.
I've been trying to distract myself by spending more time in the shop and I'm actually getting pretty good at working on cars.
I look up from the car I'm working on and there she is, I watch as she gets out of Scarlett's car and they head for the gym, she's been spending every day in that gym with Scarlett, some times Knuckles, Indigo and Cordelia join them.
"You like her." Indigo says as she walks over to me from Bullet
"No, I just worry about her is all, I know she's scared." I say as I wipe the grease off my hands with a rag
"Well Evie doesn't say a lot, but I'm guessing you're the reason she keeps checking her cell whenever I'm with her." Indigo smirks
"She's scared of me, there's no way she likes me." I reply, there can't be, could she?
"Well I was scared of everyone when I met Bullet, so you never know." She shrugs before walking of towards the gym.
I light a cigarette and lean against the wall as I think about Evie yet again. Could she really like me? She was scared to be in the truck alone with me and when I was in her house she just stayed in her room with the door locked, she can't like me if she's scared of me, can she?
I toss my cigarette and get back to work on changing the spark plugs on the car in front of me. My cell buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out I see a message from Evie
Evie: Are you free to take me to therapy later? If not don't worry
Reaper: No problem, see you later
I quickly reply and get back to work, hopefully I can get finished before I take her so I don't have to come back.
"Oh Reaper." Indigo smiles as she walks into the garage
"Was this you?" I ask as she hands me keys to one of the spare trucks
"Maybe." She smirks as she walks off towards Bullet. I look up and see Evie smoking a cigarette by the truck. I quickly grab my cut and make my way over to her
"Thank you." She whispers as I start the engine and turn on the radio, like she likes.
"Anytime." I smile as I pull out and begin driving
"I see you're spending a lot of time in the gym with Scarlett, it's good you're getting out of the house." I say as she lights another cigarette and offers one to me
"She's teaching me self defence, she thought it might help." She shrugs
"Maybe I should be scared of you kicking my ass." I joke as I look over to her and she smiles, she actually smiled
"I'm not very good." She shrugs
"Give it time." I reply. The rest of the journey is silent as I pull into the parking lot
"Want me to walk you in?" I ask and she nods. I take my seat by the front desk as she heads back for her session.
I sit and read the same posters I read last time as I wait for her to come out. An hour later she walks out with the same woman as last time and looks at me before looking at the ground. I stand up and walk over to them
"Remember what I said and I'm proud of you." The woman says before walking off
"Ready?" I ask and she nods, still looking at the floor. She follows me to the truck and we climb in
"You up to getting lunch at that diner again?" I ask
"Ok" She replies as I pull out and begin driving.
We arrive at the diner and I guide Evie to the booth at the back, she slides in and I sit down beside her. The waitress comes and takes our order before leaving us alone. I turn to Evie and she removes one of her headphones
"I talked to Dr Ashton about you today." She says quietly looking down at the table
"You did?" I reply as I turn so I can look at her better
"I umm... I missed you this past week." She stutters and I smile
"Actually I kinda missed hanging out with you too." I reply
"You did?" She asks looking up at me and I nod
"I'm crazy and probably way too much work for you to be interested, but Indigo and Dr Ashton said that I like you and I think I do." She rambles looking down again
"You like me huh?" I smirk and she nods
"Are you still scared of me?" I ask
"Kind of, not you, but it's hard to explain." She says with a confused look on her face
"Well how about this, what if we spent some more time together and see how it goes? We can take it as slowly as you like." I say and she looks back up at me
"Are you sure you're ok with that? I might never be able to..." She hesitates but I'm pretty sure I know what she meant
"I'm fine with it." I smile and she smiles back at me, she's got the cutest smile. I sit back in the booth and rest my hands on the table, I feel her move further away from me and frown, she rests her hands on the table beside me and I notice her left hand twitch a few times. She lifts her hand up and hovers over the table before her hand comes down and touches mine. I gently stroke her knuckles with my thumb as I instantly feel the warmth from her touch, but then she pulls away
"Dr Ashton told me to try to do that and I did it." She says proudly, but her smile soon fades
"I'm sorry I'm going to be too much work for you, I bet you have girls all over you and I'm getting excited because I touched your hand." She says as she puts her hands in her lap and looks down.
"I don't care." I reply and I don't. I felt something when her hand touched mine, a spark of something and although it may take time I want to see where it goes, I can't get her out of my fucking head and I want to know more about her, I want to know everything.
