"Are you going to the Magnolia ball Saturday night?"

Uraraka asked, watching as you placed your textbook on the desk and settled into your seat. You shot her a blank stare, cocking your head to the left like a confused puppy that'd just heard a strange noise,

"Magnolia ball?"

You repeated, as you continued with a perplexed stare,

Magnolia ball? The hell is a 'Magnolia Ball?'

Uraraka's eyes widened in shock, before explaining the named event,

"It's a ball that Yuuei sponsors every year in celebration of the 'Great Magnolia Tree' that's planted in the middle of the University. You know, the one that's right there in the center of it all? It's a real big deal, the tree's been there for a couple decades."

Your eyes darted as you mouthed a breathy 'wow' as she finished explaining the events' history,

What an old tree...

"Everyone I know is going, it's always packed every year."

Uraraka explained as she locked eyes with you. Her expression reading something along the lines of 'well...?' as she urged you expectantly,

Well, first off, I had no idea about this supposed 'ball' coming up, but I also don't even think I have the time to attend such an event.

You thought, of course you were interested in the ball. You were indeed a fellow college-goer after all, and enjoyed such celebrations, and in all honesty, you wanted to attend. Alas, you had packed no formal clothing whatsoever. A ball was the last thing on your mind when you first came to this school,

I should only be focused on football right now, that's it.

"I don't really have any fancy clothes to wear or anything, so I probably won't go."

You admitted, scratching the back of your neck sheepishly, and Uraraka's eyebrows knit together as a slightly irritated expression melted onto her visage,

"Go shopping tomorrow, immediately. Hell, I'll even take you if need be."

Uraraka proposed, but you responded with a loud sigh, and leaned back into your chair with a creak,

"I just remembered I have to go to a stupid study group tomorrow for Ace, I wouldn't have time to shop anyways."

The eerie silence emitting from an irritated Uraraka was all too telling of what she thought of your half-assed response,

"No."

"Hi, mom."

You squeaked, waving over the Facetime call displayed on your phone screen,

Ugh, why'd she have to call me now?! This was a terrible time to call!

Your thoughts raced and raced as your mother chattered about some new nonsensical event occuring with her friend-group,

I was a bit irritated by the extensive attention to detail before, but now I'm glad Camie bought a spare replica wig for me.

Who knew she'd be the one to be smart enough to think ahead,

Your (h/c) hair was now, of course, trimmed a lot shorter than it previously was, so you wore a replica wig. It had all of your hair's traits. It's length, it's texture, it's color. You looked just the same as you did, pre-haircut.

Your mother turned to the mirror as she tested which of her earrings in her luxurious collection went best with her dress. It was a rich shade of violet, and flattered your mother's figure perfectly. If you had to assume, she was probably going to leave out with one of her friends or something of the sort,

"So, honey---"

Your mother called, turning to you as she settled on a pair of delicate silver earrings,

"Yes?"

"You know how my friend is a party planner, and celebration coordinator, correct?"

She said, with an undertone of excitement in her voice, and thinking nothing of her words, you nodded and brought the bottle of citrus-flavored soda you had off to the side to your lips,

"Well, her and her employees will be working the event at your school this upcoming Saturday!"

Your mother squealed, and you choked on your drink mid-gulp, nearly spitting the bubbly drink all over your bed,

"What?!"

You screamed, sitting up and placing the half-empty bottle onto the nightstand beside you,

"Yep! Aren't you excited? I was thinking of attending myself! Maybe we could see your brother, too!"

This is it. I'm screwed. Royally screwed.

You held your face in your palms, the wig's (h/c) locks gliding with you.

Your mother's expression morphed into one of worry, as questions plagued her mind. She thought you'd have been ecstatic about attending this event with her, so she was a bit disheartened when she saw your reaction was contrary,

"(Y/n)...is everything alright?"

Your mother questioned, being so accustomed to 'Jin' now, your real name almost felt foreign coming out of your mother's mouth,

"Oh, yes. Everything's fine, I just..."

You paused, your (e/c) orbs bouncing from corner to corner as you conjured up a believable excuse,

"--Left the stove on, excuse me for a moment."

A polite grin crossed your features as you paused the Skype call. Albeit worried and a bit confused, your mother thought nothing of it, and resumed to applying makeup.

You stood up, placing two hands on your hips whilst groaning loudly.

"Fuck!-"

You belted, rubbing your temples as you attempted to sort your next plan of action,

"I'm screwed. So screwed. This could end it all."

You thought out loud, pacing around your dorm anxiously as you bit your nail.

"No, I can do this. I just-"

You swallowed the nervous lump in your throat, heaving a long sigh as your brain could only come to one solution.

"--I'll just have to be both me, and Jin. Just for a day."

You inhaled deeply, almost as if, that, this moment in time would be the last bit of peace this week would grant you. Which was true, and with one last deep breath, a semi determined look crossed your features,

It's not like I got a choice, I have to do this.

You strutted to the chair, plopping down and unpausing the Skype call. It loaded for only a moment but you were reunited with your mother shortly.

She immediately took notice of your return, and finished applying the last few strokes of mascara,

"You don't even have to shop for a dress, because I've got the perfect one picked out for you!~"

A forced smile widened on your lips as you tried desperately to hude the nerves in your voice.

"I'm ecstatic."
