Lucinda Dursley: Alternate Version

The Malfoys

Lucinda's POV

Harry and I are planning to sneak into Hogsmeade today. As Draco told his parents about me I see no reason not to go to Hogsmeade and have fun. Harry and I said goodbye to Ron. Then headed for the one eyed witch statue. Which I opened and Harry put his things in. But before either of us could climb in Neville appears.

I distant myself from the statue and Harry does the same. "Harry! I forgot you weren't going to Hogsmeade either!" Neville exclaims bouncing over to us. "Hi Lulu" he says smiling at me.

"Hi Neville" Harry and I say together.

"What are you up to?" Harry asks Neville as he casually puts the map back into his pocket.

"Nothing, what a game of exploding snap?" Neville asks us.

"Er — not now — I was going to go to the library and do that vampire essay for Lupin. Lulu wanted to find a new book to read" Harry lies.

"I'll come with you, I haven't done it either" Neville states.

"Er — hang on — yeah, I forgot, I finished it last night" Harry lies and I roll my eyes.

"Great, you can help me!" Neville exclaims.

"Actually Neville, I really wanted to spend family time with my cousin" I  tell him. "We hang out after lunch and help you study" I suggest.

"Ok, we can..." he starts to say and stops looking over mine & Harry's shoulders. Harry and I turn to see Professor Snape standing there. Neville took a quick step behind Harry.

"And what are you three doing here? An odd place to meet" Snape states.

"We're not meeting here" I assure him.

"We just met here" Harry adds.

"Indeed. You have a habit of turning up in unexpected places, Potter. And you are very rarely there for no good reason...I suggest the pair of you return to Gryffindor Tower, where you belong. Miss Dursley come with me, Dumbledore needs you in his office" he tells us.

I hug Harry and whisper "go without me, see you in the common room later". I pull away and follow Snape. "Why does Dumbledore wish to see me?" I ask him confused. I just saw him earlier this week after Sirius Black broke into the common room.

"There are visitors for you and Lupin is there also" he states. I frown in confusion as we reached the gargoyle guarding Dumbledore's office. He said the password and we climb the stairs. When we entered the office I ran to Lupin.

"Lupin!" I cheer hugging him. "I did the essay you gave us, what are we learning next?" I ask him excitedly.

"I have gnome for our next lesson" he tells me chuckling. "But we'll discuss that later, we have something more important to discuss" he states. I pull away and notice the strange couple in the room. Both have blonde hair and grey eyes like Draco. I gulp silently as I hold Lupin's arm. The minister for magic is also here along with a tall dark skinned wizard.

"Please take a seat Lucinda" Dumbledore tells me and I do so. Lupin stands behind me with his hands on my shoulders. "I think we should begin with the introductions" he states. "You've meet the minister, Mr Fudge. The man beside him is Kingsley Shacklebolt, is an auror. The last two are Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy" he explains.

"Hello" I say quietly.

"Lucinda, we are here to discuss your future" Kingsley states.

"My future?" I ask tilting my head.

"Yes dear, about who you will live with and your betrothal to our son" Mrs Malfoy states. I stiffen at that.

"Of course, you will have a say in the first matter along with Professor Lupin. Who is your legal guardian" Kingsley assures me.

"Need I remind you Sirius Black is also her guardian and as he is a wanted criminal. With Narcissa being his cousin and with Lucinda marrying our son in future. We have the right to rise her ourselves" Mr Malfoy states.

"No" I say firmly giving him a hard stare. "It is my life and I will decide where I live. Whether it be with the Dursleys or my godfather" I state.

"Well spoken" Kingsley says smiling.

"I am afraid Miss Prewett, the Dursleys cannot raise you even with your godfather's consent. You'll be raised by your godfather or the Malfoys" Fudge states.

"I propose a compromise" Mrs Malfoy states. We all look at her, waiting for her to explain. "Minister, Mr Shacklebolt this is a family matter. You are no longer required" she tells them. They left as she addresses us. "Now we all know your condition Lupin, if you raise her and not the Dursleys. My husband and I shall take her for one week a month during the holidays. While you deal with the full moon. None of us want Lucinda hurt after all" she explains.

"It is true I have been looking for someone to look after her during those times if I were to take her in" Lupin states.

"What do you think Lucinda?" Dumbledore asks me.

"If we do this I have some conditions" I state.

"Which are?" Mr Malfoy asks me.

"No one outside this room knows about the arranged marriage. You both don't try to make me believe your ideals. Because I never will, I was raised by muggles and have muggle-born friends. I will never look down on them. I will be a proper lady, but nothing more or less" I state.

Mr Malfoy goes to argue but Mrs Malfoy stops him. "She was raised by them Lucius, as long as she acts like a proper lady and does not try to change out son. I see no problem with her friends" she states. "But none of them will be allowed to come to the manor" she tells me.

"I'm fine with that" I tell her. "Lupin, what do you think about this?" I ask him.

"If you are ok with this, then I won't fight it. But you would have to move in with me after this school year is over" he states.

"Then we're settled, Lucinda will be raised by Remus. But will spend one week a month during the holidays with you and your husband Narcissa. Now as for the marriage" Dumbledore states.

"Which will happen when she turns seventeen as agreed with her mother and I" Mrs Malfoy states.

"Yes, but not until she is finished schooling" Dumbledore states.

"The engagement will be announced on our son's seventeenth birthday" Mr Malfoy states.

"But I'd only be fifteen then" I mumble.

"Which gives you two years to show society that you are worthy of our son" he tells me.

"Don't worry dear, we shall train you in proper etiquette during your stay with us. You had also keep your amazing grades up" Mrs Malfoy adds.

"I will" I state standing up and curtsy to them. "Thank you both for your time, see you in the summer. See you in class Professor Lupin" I say before leaving with my head held high.
