Lucinda Dursley: Alternate Version

Last Day

Lucinda's POV

So Harry and Hermione succeeded in not only freeing Sirius, but Buckbeak as well. They also weren't caught doing it. Snape was furious. The dementors were sent away from the school. The Malfoys found out about my injury and tried to press charges. But I told them not to and they only agreed as long as I went with them to the Quidditch World cup with them in the school holidays. Which isn't during a full moon, but I agreed anyway as I enjoy watching quidditch. Though I wish Harry could go with us.

Anyway it's the last day of the school year and Snape let slip Lupin's condition at breakfast. Now Lupin has resigned from teaching and I was sad. He's the best teacher according to everyone and I wish he wouldn't go. But he promised to train me during the holidays, which I'm excited about.

Right now we're in his office as he packs and I'm looking at the open map. "Harry is heading this way" I state and he looks at the map. Before going back to collecting his books. Soon Harry enters the office.

"Hello Harry" I say smiling.

"We saw you coming" Lupin states pointing to the map.

"It's true, you resigned" Harry says looking crest fallen. "Why? The Ministry of Magic don't think you were helping Sirius, do they?" he asks.

"No. Professor Dumbledore managed to convince Fudge that I was trying to save your lives" Lupin assures him.

"That was the final straw for Snape" I grumble.

"I think the loss of the Order of Merlin hit him hard. So he -- er -- accidentally let slip that I am a werewolf this morning at breakfast" Lupin explains.

"You're not leaving just because of that!" Harry exclaims. Lupin gives Harry a wry smile.

"This time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving from parents. . . . They will not want a werewolf teaching their children, Harry. And after last night, I see their point. I could have bitten any of you. . . I nearly bite Lucinda, that must never happen again" Lupin tells him.

"You're the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher we've ever had" Harry tells him. "Don't go" he begs. Lupin shook his head and didn't speak. He carried on emptying his drawers and filling his trunk.

"From what the headmaster told me this morning, you saved a lot of lives last night, Harry. If I'm proud of anything I've done this year, it's how much you've learned. . . . Tell me about your Patronus" Lupin instructs and Harry does so. "If I'm proud of anything Harry, it's about how much you and Lucinda learnt this year" he tells us.

"Oh and he retrieved this" I add handing Harry his invisibility cloak.

"I brought it from the Shrieking Shack the morning after the full moon" Lupin states. "Mischief managed" he says wiping the map clean. I pout, I was enjoying watching the people on the map. "I am no longer your teacher, so I don't feel guilty about giving you back this as well. It's no use to me, and I daresay you, Harry, Ron, and Hermione will find uses for it" he says handing me the map.

"Thank you" I say smiling as I take the map.

"You told me Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs would've wanted to lure me out of school. . . you said they'd have thought it was funny" Harry tells Lupin.

"And so we would have" Lupin chuckles. "I have no hesitation in saying that James and Lyra would have been highly disappointed if their son and daughter had never found any of the secret passages out of the castle" he states. There was a knock on the door. I stuff the map in my pocket as Harry stuff the cloak in his.

It was Professor Dumbledore. He didn't look surprised to see Harry and I here. "Your carriage is at the gates, Remus" he states.

"Thank you, headmaster" Lupin says locking his packed trunk. "Well goodbye Harry, see you soon Lucinda. I'll meet you at the station and will explain things to the Dursleys" he assures me.

"Yes Moony" I say hugging him and he hugs me back. Then pulls away grabbing his trunk and the empty grindylow tank.

"Headmaster, there is no need to see me to the gates, I can manage" Lupin says and leaves.

"I'm going to go find Jenny" I state and leave Harry alone to speak to Dumbledore. But before I could go find my best friend. I'm cornered my Draco. "Honestly, what now?" I grumble.

"How's the arm?" he asks me.

"Healed, but scarred" I say shrugging.

"It wasn't a dog was it" he says.

"So what, I won't turn" I grumble.

"This is why you should live with me and my parents" he states.

"I'm living with you during the week of the full moon, I'll be safe" I remind him.

"Can you blame me for wanting my fiance safe?" he asks.

"Fiance?" someone says shocked and we turn to see Jenny. I groan and glare at Draco.

"I'll leave you to explain" he mumbles and hurries away. I then grab Jenny's hand and drag her to the astronomy tower.

"You're engaged to Malfoy?" she asks shocked.

"Arrange marriage" I correct.

"But you're muggle born" she says confused.

"I'm not" I tell her sighing. "What I'm about to tell you, you can't tell anyone else" I state.

"You can trust me Lulu" she assures me.

"I can't tell you the whole truth as it's to dangerous unless you learn Occlumency as I have" I tell her.

"I understand, just tell me what you can" she tells me.

"I'm a half blood, my mother was a prisoner of Voldemort during the first wizarding war. Mrs Malfoy helped her escape on the condition that if she had a daughter, she'd marry her son Draco. Of course, I'm a girl and a half-blood" I explain.

"But why live with a muggle family?" she asks me.

"For protection, but now I'll be living with my wizard godfather Professor Lupin. But be spending full moons with the Malfoys" I explain.

"Wow, poor you having to stay with the Malfoys" she states.

"Tell me about" I groan.

"Don't worry, this will remain between us as long as we can train in defense together" she tells me.

"Deal" I say smiling. "Lets go down to the lake" I suggest. We link arms and skip to the lake. Once there we join Hermione and Ron, who had been rejoined by Harry.
