»»» lana del rey - yes to heaven

1:32 PM

Cassandra and Taehyung were standing in front of the elevator.

None of them having the courage to speak up first.
That was it.
Their days together had finally come to an end. An unbearable silence between them.
The elevator doors opened with a ping and they entered. Taehyung lowering his heavy bag to press the button, peeking at her. An undefinable expression on her tired looking face. No hints of sadness or upsetness. She was just staring emotionlessly in front of her.
He sighed, ruffling through his hair under his baseball cap. He didn't get it. Obviously he wasn't expecting her to break down crying. And he didn't even want her to. Besides, she didn't like crying in front of people anyway and this one time at the metro station was an exception. Nevertheless, he expected some kind of reaction. Being this quiet was not her usual self. He somehow got it though. He couldn't say anything either after all. How should he with that lump in his throat?
The elevator stopped at the lobby and the doors opened. He picked his bag from the ground and went to the receptionist desk, returning the room card.

"So, what are you gonna do now?" he asked then, watching her shrug. "Probably stroll around town for the last time." Her voice paper-thin. Contrary of its usual strong sound. He nodded, breathing out loudly when staring outside. Seeing his taxi waiting.
He glanced back down to the girl. She was looking away. Was she avoiding his gaze?
"Till next time then." His voice low. He was trying to give her a small smile, but failed. For some reason he felt miserable, practically dragging himself.
Cassandra's eyes went up, their brown irises finally meeting. Her lips parted, ready to say something but closed again. Instead she wrapped her arms around him, as tight as she could. She didn't care if this would make him feel awkward or not, she simply needed that hug. She needed to hug him at least once, for all the times she couldn't.
A sigh of relief leaving Taehyung's lips when feeling her arms around his torso. Embracing her equally as tight with a smile. There it was, the reaction he waited and hoped for.
"I hope you'll have a nice flight," she mumbled against his chest. "And text me when you arrive home. Okay?"
He simply nodded. The lump being back. Thankfully there was no one around in the lobby right now. Otherwise they most likely wouldn't share this moment.
"I'm sorry I can't stay with you until your flight leaves," he mumbled against her hair before they let go of each other.
"It's okay."
"Don't get lost, okay?" he warned with a raised brow. Causing her to giggle. Even now he somehow managed to make her laugh.
"I'm not a child!" she huffed, jokingly. And they grew quiet. He picked up his bag, giving her a small nod before walking to the exit. Glancing one last time over his shoulder. The sight of her standing there, staring at him with her big bambi eyes breaking his heart. Not even knowing why.
"I-"
"I'll miss you, too," she cut him off with a sad smile. Fighting the urge to let those tears forming in the corners of her eyes fall. No, she had to stay persistent. At least until he was gone.
"Goodbye, Cassandra," he breathed and pulled up his face mask. His voice breaking at the end.
"Goodbye, Taehyung."

Taehyung's long fingers were tapping against the glass. His eyes observing the small rain drops coming from the sky rolling down on it. His taxi was stuck in traffic, but somehow he didn't care. At least not as much as the slightly annoyed driver. He wasn't worried about being late and potentially missing his flight. He could simply take the next one. There were plenty of flights from Tokyo to Seoul daily.
His finger glided down, absentminded when the sudden honkings of some cars around them brought him back.
He sighed, focusing back on the view outside. A crowd of people with umbrellas walking down the pavements and shopping streets. One particular umbrella catching his eye then. A violet one with purple dots.
"Machi.." he mumbled to himself. Noticing the umbrella stopping in front of a vitrine further down the shopping street. His eyes widening as he could swear recognising the person underneath it. At least for a short moment before pedestrians blocked his view. Shaking his head, he buried his hands in his jacket's pockets. His fingertips touching something small and hard then. Confused, he grabbed the object and pulled it out. Seeing a small figurine in his palm.
He remembered seeing it somewhere before, but he could swear his pockets had been empty when sliding on that jacket. And then it hit him. Cassandra had put it in when hugging him.
