You're Coming with Me

Kirito
Even if you never remember me,
we can still become friends all over again, from the beginning.
Even if, as hard as it was to admit,
I wanted us to be more than that.
But that wouldn't be possible unless you remembered.

I tried everything to make him remember us. Hugs and kisses didn't work. It had to be words, maybe a photo. But I no longer have photos of that times. They're gone.

I wake up, and remember I slept with Eugeo last night. I turn to my side and he's still asleep.
I brush his golden locks with my fingers and plant a kiss on his forehead.

I hear constant buzzing from my phone.

Asuna: Kirito what the hell happened? Did that Eugeo boy get you into trouble?!
Lisbeth: Ditching school without me? How could you!

Eek... I thought to myself.
I rapidly replied back to them.

You: No!! I wasn't feeling well so I went straight home. I don't even know where Eugeo went.
Asuna: Sometimes, worrying about you is too much for me.
You: I'm glad you worry. Keeps me hopeful.

Lisbeth: Answer!! It says you're active.
You: Yes, yes... I didn't ditch actually, I started feeling like crap so I just went home.
Lisbeth: Same thing. No difference. Next time, I deserve an invite. Ttyl

Sighing, I look back at Eugeo.
Then a loud knock startles me from the door.
"Eugeo? Sorry I'm this late, are you awake?"

Shit. Think. Where can I hide. Um...
Crawling under the bed and shutting my mouth whilst holding my breath, I hear the door creak open.

"Mum?" I hear Eugeo whisper, weakly.
"Where's Kirito?"
Shit...

"Who?"
"Listen, Eugeo, I've got more job interviews to do, so I'm just checking in on you. Well, if you need me, just wait for me here, okay?" I hear her say.

"Sure..."
I feel bad for them. Communication by phone makes things so much easier.

Once I hear the door slam shut, I reveal myself.
I startle the half-asleep Eugeo.

"K-Kirito! So you were still here..."
He's blushing again, and looking at me with shock.
I go closer to him, until our foreheads our touching.

"Shhh," I gesture.
I could even feel the heat from his face.

"So do you want me to leave now? Or stay a bit longer?" I question.
He sat in silence, and I heard his stomach growl.
"We're going out to eat," I demand.

"N-no need! My mum usually leaves a slice of bread or two behind, besides I don't have money."

"All on me," I smile gently.
"It's for you, after all."

It never struck me before, but Eugeo was a little underweight. Did he not have enough food to eat everyday? No matter. I'm taking him out.

At a café

"Come on, let's order," I say, grabbing his hand.
While moving toward the cashier to order, I look at the menu. What does he like? I'm his best friend, I should know.
Was his best friend.

"S-sorry, I've never been to one of these things before." He replies timidly.
He's never been to a café before?
Perfect, then.

"Next waiting! What would you like to order?"
Hmm,
"Ill have just the scrambled eggs with bacon and toast."
"And you, Eugeo?" I ask.
I notice he's zoning out, clearly overthinking.

"He'll just have the same thing I'm having."
I pay and go to our table. We sit.

I notice how silent Eugeo is.
"Eugeo? Why the silence?"

"Well, it's just... I feel so bad, you're doing this all for me, but why? We just met... and I'm nobody special."
I can hear sadness in his voice. He refused to make eye contact.

I place my hands on his face and turn it up to face mine.
I stare at his enchanting eyes.

"It's because you're special to me, Eugeo. And I need to make you remember."
His face flares up as he jerks away.

"So all this kindness on some false hope that we were friends before?"
I could hear he was sad. But that wasn't the only reason why.

"Not just that.
I know we were something, and I'm not only doing this just to make you remember. Even if you're right, and we don't know each other, then it doesn't matter because we do now and you're pretty damn great and I'd do this for you regardless. So I'm glad we met again. If you never ever remember,
We can just be best friends all over again. From square one."

He looks at me for a second, and his face flares up.

"You really are unpredictable, huh?" he replies bashfully.
"I can say the same about you," I reply

The waitress arrives, handing us the food.
We thank her.

We both stare at the plate in awe.
The creamy, golden yellow scrambled eggs were reminiscent of Eugeo's hair. The chives scattered on top complemented the dish. The still sizzling, aromatic bacon made us feel both happy. We were both clearly famished.

Been a while since I've had a meal like this, but today's special. Thank God it's Saturday.

"You don't know how thankful I am for you," Eugeo says.
Thank you."

I'm surprised, were my feelings reciprocated?

Or did he remember something?
No. He would've said so.

"Is it really okay for me to eat this? I still feel guilty"
I can tell he is fighting the urge to eat.
"Of course it is. Don't even worry about it."

That's because one who had to do all the worrying was me.
I can put up this facade of having money, but I was this close to running out.
But if it's for him, it's okay...

"Ah! Kirito! Eugeo!"
Two familiar voices.
I hear from outside the window.
We both gaze outside.

It's Asuna and Lisbeth.
They spotted us.
