Author's note to readers: Picture of the creepy Hill House in England, from 'The Haunting', 1963; and a rare UK radio interview with editor/producer/director Robert Wise speaking about the movie to a UK journalist in the MEDIA section to the right; Wise produced and directed the movie, but wasn't editor; Wise begun making horror movies in the 1940's. And other scary movies into the 1970's, like 'Audrey Rose', 1977; Wise also directed musicals like 'West Side Story', 1961; and 'The Sound of Music', 1965, inbetween making 'The Haunting', 1963.

I was in my house in Essex when the newspaper arrived.

"John, it's the Police", Margaret, my wife, said.

"Yes".

"We'd like you to come to a house Sir! It's haunted", Scotland Yard Head Randall Clemens, 64, informed me.

"Which house?", I asked him.

"Mollerd Chimes", he answered.

And my skin started to crawl up my arms...as I shivered with horror.
