When I woke up, I felt safe for a moment. Then I saw the stall walls around me and I didn't feel as safe. I realised it must be around midnight, because it was close to complete darkness and horse snores echoed down the corridor. A few single lights lit up the corridor, but not enough to make it bright. This was my second night away from my heard. Thinking about my heard made me happy and sad at the same time. I thought about the memories, me being found under a dead tree. Lotus, an old mare took care of me and taught me how to survive in the wilderness. The feeling of being watched woke me up from my memories. I spun around, only to find a pair of deep dark eyes looking at me. Doc. We looked at each other, everything quiet. But not an awkward silence. A peaceful, comfortable silence. I wondered if he was going to break it. Minutes passed, and we just looked at each other. I was the one who looked away. I couldn't stand his pained, dark eyes looking at me. I let my head drop down to the floor and tried to fall asleep again. I couldn't. There was something about this night. The horses kept on sleeping. The small lights on the walls kept on shining. And I kept on having that eerie feeling about this night. Suddenly, a loud neigh broke the silence. The neigh came from outdoors and I immediately spun around and faced the direction from where I had heard the neigh. It felt somehow familiar. I searched deep inside my head. Suddenly, a flashback hit me.
"Dark! Run!"
He was here to save me.
