March 16, 1997
Today is graduation day. I'm about to graduate with flying colors, I have my valedictorian speech right here at my pocket. I am so nervous. Today, my life finally begins. My main goal in life was to be an actor, If given the chance to be, I will take it. I still need to practice acting for years. I still need to attend the Theatre Institute.
My name is Christopher Robert Evans. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. My mother's name is Lisa Evans, who worked at the Concord Youth Theatre, and my father is G. Robert Evans III, a dentist. My uncle is a congressman. My father is of half German and half Welsh/English/Scottish ancestry, while my mother is of half Italian and half Irish descent. I have an older sister, , and two younger siblings, a brother named Scott Evans, who is also an actor, and a sister named Shana Evans. Our family moved to suburban Sudbury when I was 11 years-old. Bitten by the acting bug in the first grade because my older sister, Carly, started performing, I followed suit and began appearing in school plays. While at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, my drama teacher cited my performance as "Leontes" in "The Winter's Tale" as exemplary of my skill. I attended more plays and regional theater.
I hate to admit but back when I was younger, I used to cry all the time. I was really soft, I am crying all the damn time over the smallest thing, even going into the school bus, just when I thought I made it, I literally cried.
Life was tough but I was strong enough. Look where I am now. I'm about to graduate. The professor started announcing the names of the graduates until he finally calls mine.
"And now, let's give it up for Evans, Christopher Robert, Master of Fine Arts in Performance and Acting. He is also the class valedictorian. Let's give him a surrounding round of applause."
Yes! I finally heard it!! The only thing that's keeping me busy. I'm gonna miss everyone in here. I smiled and I high-fived some of my friends. I walked up to the stage and I was smiling at almost everyone. Smiling enough to let all of the people know that I value my achievements in life, specially this one. I took out the paper where I wrote my speech and started talking.
"Principal Stevens, Trustees, Faculty members, family, friends and fellow graduates, today is a day to be thankful and to be inspired.
You know, we all have negativities, we all have pain, we all have sorrow. Even I. I have to admit, I used to cry a lot during my years of studying here. I will treasure it forever. I could go back and reminisce about the last four years. Instead I think it's more important to focus on where we will be in the next four years. Whether it's baking great bread, cooking up laws in the senate, teaching futures generations, or creating new music, or acting as a superhero in a well-known company of heroes and villains. The world may never know. All of us must make sure the word success is associated with what we do, and we must make sure that the path we're taking leads us to a beautiful destination.
We must concentrate on enhancing our futures and setting great examples for those who love us and for those who will follow us. We must be tomorrow's positive images. Our actions must make a statement and send a clear message. One that says, wherever we come from, whatever we have, or don't have, whatever our color, sex or cultural background, we can be partners in success and we can achieve greatness together,
In order to have high self esteem, confidence, and motivation we must be willing to work diligently and have a keen understanding of how far we can go. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." Let us leave a trail others will be proud to follow.
If you feel at any point, that life is becoming too hard and that obstacles are coming from left and right. Please don't panic. Remember that life can get better, if we have the right tools to work with. Tools like a positive attitude, an education, the right friends and fierce determination.
Class of 1997, It is up to all of you to make a difference, to have people say honorable things about you and leave the impression that you never gave up on yourselves. Society is counting on you. Excellence is never an accident- it's the result of hard work. Go forward, work hard, and attain excellence; the kind of excellence that will make your dreams reality. A secure future can be reality you must visualize tomorrow — a safe, happy, prosperous tomorrow and make it happen.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers and administrators who worked so hard to make us reach this commencement ceremony. To my heroes, Scarlett and Elizabeth, thank you for not letting me into a great black hole. Y/N and Bryan, I treasure your unconditional love and support. Mom, I hope I made you proud.
Class of 1997, good luck and remember graduation is only the beginning."
I said as I try not to tear up, because this is it, I ended up crying, AGAIN.
After this special event, I need to celebrate with my whole family and fix my things and get ready to move to New York and attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
I forgot about y/n, I need to talk to her about this. We've been dating for almost a year now. I love her. She is very different compared to other girls. She gave me everything I want and It means the whole world to me. She supports me in everything that I want and I do. I'm doing the same for her. I forgot to mention that she is a well-known volleyball player here in Massachusetts too, I always come to her games to watch and support and I enjoy it as much as she does. I'm pretty sure It'll break her heart to know that I need to leave for New York for this goal and career. But I need to do this, it's also for the both of us. In fact, I'm doing this for our future. I want to give her a world that is much bigger than she deserves. I hope she'll understand that. I'm pretty nervous, though. She is there, with my parents and I don't know if they told her already, but It'll be best if the words come from me.
I walked down the stairs and me and my friends took a lot of pictures for memories and for remembrance. I smiled and I started tearing up again, I ended up hugging everyone and I finally walked to my parents and y/n. I can finally say it.
"Hi mom and dad, hi babe, I MADE IT!!" I shouted as I hugged all of them and gave Y/N a kiss.
We took some pictures and finally get to go home.
Moments after, we arrived home and I went straight upstairs and I grabbed Y/N by the hand and took her with me.
"Chris?" Mom said.
"Mom? Can I talk to Y/N first?" I said in a sad voice.
"Oh, okay, be quick, we have a celebration to go to." She replied.
I was with Y/N and to be honest, I felt sad.
We reached my door and I opened it.
I pushed her to bed and made out with her, just to give her a warm welcome.
"I'm sorry I had to" I looked at her, smiled.
