Violet's POV:

"Are you ready?!" My uncle asked me from downstairs. He and I were just getting ready to leave the house. "Yeah!" I replied. Tonight we were gonna see Arrow perform in the play he has been practicing for a while. The only reason I'm not helping with the lighting and sound is because professor Lewis decided to just do it herself. It should have made me feel like she doesn't have fait in me, but I was honestly relived. I didn't wanna be coped up in a sound booth instead of out in the crowd enjoying the play. When I walked downstairs I found Joe at the bottom of them waiting on me. He was wearing a black buttoned shirt, which was tucked inside of the black dress pants he was wearing. I wasn't dressed fancy because dress clothes make me feel uncomfortable and awkward. And there's no way in hell I'm gonna wear a dress. So I decided to wear a plain black t-shirt and some blue jeans. "Do you have your jacket?" He asked me curiously as he slipped on his coat. "Yeah." I replied as I put on my black pull over hoodie. The cold chill of November had settled in even though the multicolored leaves of October were still holding on strong. I was glad though. Having colorful leaves for is pretty rare since it usually starts snowing in November. 'Hopefully the snow holds back until the last part of December.' I thought inside of my head as we walked out onto the front porch. Joe locked up the house before we got into his truck. We listened to music the entire drive to the college; it helped me relax. I'm not even in the play and I was feeling nervous. I guess I was nervous for Arrow. After we reached the college, Joe parked his truck and we shut the radio off before killing the engine. "Wow. I wasn't expecting all of these people to be here just for a college play." He said after we got out of the vehicle. "Yeah, neither did I. But it is the opening night and a lot of artsy people live here." I replied as he and I walked towards the main doors of the art department. As soon as we walked in I spotted a few classmates who were taking tickets. Joe and I headed towards our front row seats after handing in our tickets. I ended up taking off my jacket because it was so warm in the theater. In a way I was glad it was toasty inside, but I didn't wanna sweat to death. Joe took his coat off as well and laid it in his lap after we sat down. My stomach had butterflies fluttering around in my stomach, which mingled with my excitement. I took my phone out of my pocket to message Arrow and let him know that we arrived.

Me: Hey, Joe and I are in our seats. I'm so excited!! How are you feeling?

Arrow: Great!! I'm feeling a little nervous, but I'm sure my butterflies will go away as soon as I set foot on the stage.

Arrow: I'm glad you guys were able to make it!!!

Me: We wouldn't have missed this for the world! <3

As more and more people filled the auditorium I said I'd see Arrow on the stage. I shut my phone off before putting it back into my pocket; I didn't want it to go off in the middle of the play and get kicked out or something. It was almost time for the show to start when a couple of people filled the seats on the other side of my uncle. "Hey, you're almost late." Joe whispered. When I leaned over to see who he was talking to, I couldn't help the smile that was on my face. Arrow's parents, Thorn and Luna, showed up to watch their son perform. "Sorry, we got a little lost on our way here." Thorn said. "It's okay. You're here and that's all that matters." Joe replied with a smile. I waved at them slightly and they waved at me with smiles on their faces. Professor Lewis's voice suddenly filled the auditorium. She told everyone not to take pictures and for everyone to shut their phones off as well. Then the curtains on the stage started opening. The entire room was silent before the play started. No one made a sound the entire time unless it was to laugh, applaud, or the occasional sniff from crying. It was really was an amazing show and Arrow was mind blowing!! Acting really is in his blood. Once the show ended people started flooding out of the room. Everyone seemed to be talking about what they had just seen, which made me smile. I was so proud and happy for my best friend and I'm sure his parents were as well. The four of us waited for everyone to clear out before we got up and stretched. I could hear people walking behind the closed curtains and figured they were cleaning up for the night. "Hey, why don't we wait for Arrow and we go grab a bite to eat." Joe said once we were in the hallway. "That sounds great!" Thorn said with a smile. I messaged Arrow to tell him to meet us in the hallway once he was finished with everything. After I mentioned getting dinner it didn't take him too long to get away from everyone else. His parents, Joe, and I complemented him on his acting skills as well as his singing skills. "Thanks." He replied with a slight blush on his face. Obviously he was feeling awkward with everyone making positive comments on his performance. Once we finished talking we walked out to the parking lot where Joe's truck was. Thankfully it was a double cab, so everyone could fit inside. The entire ride towards the nearest diner was filled with conversation. All we talked about was the play and about the classes Arrow and I were taking. "I'm glad Violet and I started teaching ourselves American History or we probably wouldn't be passing professor Till's class." Arrow said as Joe parked outside of the local diner. "It was all Joe's idea. I'm actually disappointed I didn't think of it myself to be honest." I replied after everyone was out of the car. When we walked into the diner there were a couple trucker looking guys eating at the counter. Each of them were wearing ball caps, blue jeans, and flannel. They turned to look at us but quickly turned back to their food and coffee. After we sat down at a booth a waitress in a baby blue uniform and white apron walked towards us. "Good evening. What can I get you all to drink?" She said with a kind smile. She had light brown eyes and black hair tied up in a bun. My uncle got and I got black coffee. Luna, Thorn, and Arrow ordered hot tea. Our waitress left to get our drinks while we looked over the menu. They had burgers, hot dogs, soup, salad, and all kinds of sandwiches. But I was feeling more like breakfast food instead. So when the waitress returned I ordered waffles and sausage, which came with a bowl of fresh fruit and whipped cream. Everyone else got breakfast foods as well. When Luna ordered French toast I tried not to cringe. I love almost every kind of breakfast food, but I can't stand French toast. I'm not sure why I don't like it though. Joe started a conversation and I pressed my thoughts to the back of my mind as I took a sip of my coffee. At first I was listening to the conversation, but then I thought I spotted a familiar face walk into the diner. 'Is that Richard?' I thought inside of my head. I thanked god that no one else was sitting in that general direction, because they probably would have thought I was some kind of freak. Honestly I was staring a little longer than I needed to, but I had to know if that was Richard or not. "Excuse me, but I have to use the restroom." I said suddenly. It probably took everyone off guard, but I wasn't really thinking about that. I just wanted to go see if Richard had just walked in and took a seat on the other side of the diner. Joe let me out of the booth and I thanked him before I headed over to the bathrooms. I was glad that there was a little decided blocking their view of the section Richard just went towards. Otherwise they would have known I really didn't have to use the bathroom. I pressed my thoughts aside as I turned the corner, but I suddenly stopped dead in my tracks. No one was sitting on this side of the diner at all. 'Maybe he went to the bathroom, Violet.' I thought inside of my head. So instead of turning around and going back, I actually went into the lady's bathroom. While I was there I went ahead and emptied my bladder even though I didn't think I needed to. Once I was finished I washed my hands and left the bathroom. Still... Richard wasn't there. 'Maybe I'm just seeing things.' I said inside of my head as I joined my uncle and friends again. In all honesty I probably was seeing things. I haven't seen Richard in a while since I've been studying American History during lunch. But it wasn't like he didn't know. The last time I saw him I mentioned it to him. I felt bad for not going to see him in the garden. 'I should take Tuesday off and see him.' I thought. Deep down I've been missing him like crazy. After we finished eating dinner we took Arrow back to his dorm. Joe offered a place to stay for Thorn and Luna since winter was coming, but they turned his offer down. I guess they were just use to staying in a tent all year round. So we took them to their place before heading home. I changed my clothes before going into the living room to watch some tv. After a while Joe said he was going to get ready for bed. We said goodnight to each other before he left me all alone in the living room. I didn't mind though. I sat up and watched a few episodes of Matlock, which is an older sort of crime drama. When midnight rolled around I decided to get ready for bed myself. I shut the tv off and made sure the house was locked up before going upstairs to my room. Then I changed into my pajamas. I was going to climb into bed when there was a tapping sound at my bedroom window. 'What was that?' I wondered as I walked over to my window and looked outside. The moon was bright, so it wasn't difficult to see down into the backyard. My heart leapt when I saw Richard down there waving at me. I waved back and then he beckoned me to come down. 'Hopefully he isn't just a fragment of my imagination this time.' I said inside of my head as I closed the curtains. I quickly slipped on some shoes and a jacket before heading downstairs. I made sure to be quiet so I didn't wake up my uncle. When I walked into the back yard the frozen ground crunched underneath my feet. I spotted Richard and I smiled like an idiot. We wrapped our arms around each other and I snuggled into his chest. I giggled when he spun me around before placing my feet firmly back on the ground. "I've missed you so much, Richard." I said as I closed my eyes and breathed in his comforting scent. "I've missed you too sweetheart." He whispered softly as he gently tightened his arms around me. After be broke the hug I convinced him to come inside where it was warm. I made him a hot cup of tea to thaw out his hands and insides. "How did you find out where I've been staying?" I asked him curiously with furrowed brows. He told me that he followed us to the diner, but seen that I wasn't alone. So he decided to just leave me alone with my friends. Then he followed my uncle and I home. "I know it sounds creepy, but I just had to see you." He said with a slightly worried look in his big brown eyes. "It's okay." I replied as I gave him a side hug. All I wanted to do was cuddle with him, but I knew we couldn't. He's a professor at the college I go to, besides... we're just friends. I know my heart wants more than just friendship with him but that's what I have to live with. We spent some time together before he decided he should leave. It was late and he didn't wanna deprive me of anymore sleep than he already had. "I'll come visit you in the garden on Tuesday." I said after we gave each other a goodbye hug. "I'll be looking forward to it." He replied before kissing my forehead. I locked the back door behind him and switched off the kitchen lights before going upstairs. There was a smile on my face as I climbed into bed and shut off the lights in my room. It took me a while to fall asleep. But when I eventually fell asleep all I dreamed about was Richard.
