As William Kei continued on his rant for exacting revenge, I activated my Music attribute silently to drown him out, letting my thoughts calm me down as I attempted to devise a plan. If I don't move any time soon, this could be the end. For real, this time. The moment he stops wasting his time and talking, he'll kill me. I looked at my surroundings, my eyes scanning the tons of people who were watching in confusion. With all these people around, it could become dangerous. He might go down his lunatic rabbit hole even further and try to kill them too.
My hands clenched into fists, and I ignored the burning bruises on my sides as I stood up, pretending to be in too much pain to move any more than I already was. This kept William Kei on his rant, where he was approaching the point about a time he killed a useless scientist during his Atlas Bomb incident in detail. The way he describes touching her and cutting her open disgusts me. Seems to me he's just confessing his crimes. Wiping my mouth of blood, my eyes did a perimeter scan, continuing to ignore him, and my lips thinned.
What would Mom do right now?
Would she handle William Kei head-on without facing the consequences? Or would she evacuate the citizens first?
I glanced over to my right, noticing a sphere of green surrounding a hospital room. That's.. Papa's time sphere. My eyes widened, and I unconsciously created my own over it as well. First: we slow down Mom's decomposition for the hospital to see if they can do anything. If I add my own sphere, Papa should notice, and time should slow down even more. My right hand glowed green, and I kept a mental note of the sphere to make sure I wouldn't accidentally call it off.
Turning to face William Kei, he seemed to be finishing up his rant quickly as he noticed I wasn't listening at all. Second: I'll evacuate the civilians around the area using my Deceiver attribute so that they won't get hurt or in the way. At this point, William Kei was staring at me blankly.
"What's going on in that brain of yours, Meredith?" He asked, his head tilting to the side. His eyes glowed darkly at me, unamused by my silence as I stared back. "I sense an awfully powerful energy radiating off of you, and yet, nothing is happening."
Numerous flashes around us caught his attention as clones of myself began telling people to leave in a calm and as-orderly-as-possible fashion. His eyes widened suddenly, and he turned back to look at me.
"That's what you think," I said to him, quickening the paces of the onlookers leaving with my Time attribute. Third: defeat William Kei and put him in his place. I let out a gentle breath, commenting, "I'm not a hero or anything like my parents, but I do have the mindset to evacuate people from harm's way like any hero should." Flicking my hair over my shoulder, I glowered over at him, the ground beneath my feet crumbling. He flinched. "That's enough talking though. You've already gone off on your own essay; mine isn't necessary."
My hand outstretched, glowing a bright orange color, and William Kei turned around quickly, anticipating something to be summoned from behind him as a black shadow formed. He actually fell for it! A smile lifted on my face as I slowed down time around us. My Deceiver attribute made the fake shadow behind him disappear, and I created a portal beside his hand, the one holding the Blood Assassin knife. I felt my arm suddenly pulse as the rush of different attributes made the blood pressure change rapidly.
Don't forget about the time sphere, Meredith.
My jaw clenched, and I summoned a spear, letting my arm encase in a red glow as blood appeared from the opening in my arm where it was created. That's not normal... I'm not starting to overwhelm my body too much, am I? Using my Time attribute, I propelled the spear towards William Kei's wrist, watching it slash through the air. He had barely turned back around now, and his eyes widened at the weapon hurdling towards him. His eyes glowed yellow, but he didn't have enough time to dilate it as his hand was sliced off the end of his arm.
I heard him scream out in pain, but I tried my best to ignore it as his decapitated hand fell into the portal, along with the Blood Assassin knife. Another portal appeared beside me, and I caught the knife, letting the hand drop to the ground next to me. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to catch my breath, putting the Blood Assassin knife in my waist band. For a second, I let my attributes rest, wincing when my blood pumped furiously into my arms.
Humans aren't made to handle attributes simultaneously, especially with the number of attributes I wield.
William Kei saw this as a chance to retaliate and put his hand out in the shape of a gun, spluttering, "Bang!" My eyes widened, and quickly, I jumped behind a parked car beside me, avoiding the invisible bullet. As far as I know, the abilities of the Mime attribute are limited— a gun is the highest tier of weapons in can create to be real. Everything under that tier is hand-held. "Goddamn you, you fucking bitch!"
The car shriveled up as he used his Dilation attribute, crushing it tightly. I turned to look over my shoulder at him, and my legs started to shake as I attempted to stand on my feet. I can't get up..! My legs won't move! William Kei's eyes were glowing in a hostile manner now, and his remaining hand clenched into a fist. He knew I was immobilized.
Putting his hand out, he spat lowly under his breath, "It was about time you sat the fuck down and died like you should. I was too nice to you."
In the moment he casted his Dilation's shrinking spell towards me, my body instinctively set up another time sphere around us. However, it slowed time down 500% more than it usually would, and I suspected it was something I picked up from Papa when he taught me to control my attributes. It's supposed to be used whenever a high tier spell is casted specifically on me.
Summoning a cane and ignoring the blood that came with it, I shoved it into the ground, pulling myself up. My Music attribute flared immediately, and just like my mother, its power made my hair float, as if in zero gravity. My eyes glowed the prettiest purple color, and I felt my throat becoming clogged when it reminded me of Mom. Is there.. any hope she's ever coming back? I pushed the thought back, and with my hand outstretched in a purple hue, I bent the energy waves of the Dilation attribute, pointing them up towards the sky.
The one thing I can count on when it comes to the Music attribute is its flexibility as a power.
Time resumed, and before William Kei could react to his Dilation spell's new destination, I pulled the cane back and shoved it into his torso as hard as I could. He screamed out in pain when it pierced a hole into his chest, and I shut my eyes tightly as his blood spluttered out on my face and arms. As he fell to the ground with me on top of him, I slowly stood on my feet with the cane in hand, pulling away and breathing heavily as my throat tightened.
William Kei's eyes were wide, as if the realization that he, a criminal mastermind, was defeated by a teenager. My jaw clenched as I felt tears running down my face, crying about so many things and yet nothing at the same time.
I glared down at him, keeping in my sobs, and muttered, "I'll be damned if my mother's death goes unavenged..."
