Clipped Wings

She was a bird
Soaring through the shining sky
Hopeful as she became blinded by the sun
The glass in front of her was invisible to
Her innocent eyes
Suddenly she flew
Right into the glass
Too clear to see as she shot sky high
Now the glass was smudged and fogged
Making her limitations inescapable
To her not yet numbed mind
The night fell over the dead horizon
Covering the decay of her soul
And rain poured to the ground
Hiding her tears from the birds looking down
She longed to fly again
Her friends called out to her
But her wings had been clipped
"Will I ever fly just once more"
She cried out to the silence
As the wolves came out
And trampled her heart
As it shatters to a million pieces
All strewn about
Her heart
A rock in her chest
Weighing her down
Breaks to just grains of sand
That get carried away
Past the glass
To a place she longs to be
