"Yes, I understand." Chris said, he just ended a phone call.
He laid back onto the bed and put his hands behind his head, as if he didn't just end an intense phone call from what I could make out.
"What was that about?" I asked
He sighed without looking to me, but staring at the television, "I'm getting put out." He said
I raised my eyebrows and abruptly sat up, "What? Why?!" I asked
He let out a deep sigh, "From the incident that went down at my place the other night, neighbors reported a gun sounding off coming from my place so the landlord thinks I'm a 'danger to the neighborhood.' " He said
"What?! And you're not tripping about this? He can't put you out because of that, you have a right to carry a gun and the person was breaking and entering— What's his number?" I asked
He looked to me, "Whose?"
"Your landlord, stupid, who else's!"
"Babe, calm down, I'm not about to trip about that." He said
"So you're not about to trip about being evicted?" I asked with the straightest face
"No, I was looking for a new place to stay anyway, I just didn't expect to be getting evicted but I was going to be leaving there soon anyway."
I rolled my eyes, "Mm... well I still don't like him from how he used to treat you so it'd be a big help if you'd give me his number." I said
"No, India."
"Why not? It's not like you're going to be staying there any longer." I said
"Because, the way your attitude has been lately, I know he's going to lessen my stay there if you say something derogatory on my behalf."
"How long did he say you have anyway?" I asked
"A week." He said
"A weeek?! No, give me your phone—" I said trying to grab for it
He gently pushed me to the side, "What Chris? That's illegal, he's at least supposed to give you 30 days not a damn week."
"I found a place that I'm going to go see tomorrow." He said
I took a deep sigh, "Well why wasn't I informed about any of this? The housing search and everything."
"I didn't wanna say anything until I thought I found a place." He said
"Well... I guess. Tell me how you like it when you go see it."
"What you mean? You coming to see it with me, after all you will be staying there." He replied
I rearranged my face a few times,
