"Okay, so I've managed to invite almost everyone in school with the highest social media followings. They all agreed to take a photo with you and advertise your campaign," Lisa shows me her tablet with screenshots of Instagram accounts with the most followings.
I was thankful to have her by my side. After her relationship with Jimin became solid, she made it her goal to make it up to me in every way she could. It was more work for her but meant less for me.
"Thanks, you're such a lifesaver!"
"So, how's you get home last night?" She asks as we walk downstairs.
Jungkook let us get ready in his bedroom while the party was just beginning downstairs. Lisa and I both wore matching red dresses and heels too high to function. It was impractical but we looked hella fucking good. I also needed to make a good impression on my peers if I wanted to win.
"Yoongi," I answer.
She blinks in surprise. "Yoongi? Really?"
I nod. "Are any of the other candidates here?"
She shakes her head. "It's not like they stand a chance anyway. No one even knows who they are."
Good.
"You know, instead of working so hard. You can easily rig the votes with Jungkook's help," Lisa suggests. "I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you."
"Tempting," I say. But I never gave it a second thought. This was something I knew I could do on my own and I didn't need to cheat in order to get it. "But I'm confident that I'll win."
Lisa sighs.
We join the party and it's more civilized than I thought. People weren't going wild like at the beach, jumping off roofs and shit. They were in the backyard socializing and playing drinking games. I met up with the Instagram-famous students and took photos.
I'm voting for Jung Yura, you should too! #JYForPresident
Jung Yura is the most worthy of STUCO Pres.
This is what our future student body president looks like. #SoPretty
It's safe to say that these captions will reach at least 70% of the school's population. Everyone will know my face as the next student body President. My name will be the subject of every conversation come Monday morning.
Set aside all the campaigning, I allowed myself to have a couple drinks to celebrate my soon to be victory.
"Yura, aren't you dating Jungkook?" asks Kim Jennie.
I can see how people would think that. "Why?" I question.
She points toward the pool house. "Because I think he's hooking up with someone."
Why am I not surprised?
I pour the rest of my drink into the grass and throw the the bottle away. I head toward the pool house with one thought running through my mind: betrayal. He promised me that those days were behind him, that I was the only person he'd be devoting himself to. He spoke those words to me and I was stupid enough to believe them.
Never again.
My heels aggressively click against the concrete as I storm to the building. I barge inside and sure enough, someone was hovering over Jungkook on the couch.
But it wasn't who I'd expect.
No, I never thought this would happen.
I never thought I'd see the fucking day.
"What's going on?" I walk over to them to get a clear look, hoping that it wasn't just my vision. Was I hallucinating? Did someone fucking spike my drink? What the actual fuck was going on?
"Please tell me I'm not seeing this right," I rub my temples. I was frustrated and confused.
Jungkook looks at me dumbfounded. He's just as surprised as I am, like a deer caught in headlights as they'd say. I caught him redhanded but he was looking at me as if he was a victim and I were his hero that came to save him.
"Yura, fucking help me," he struggles to push the drunk asshole off of him.
I push the ugly bastard away and he falls to the ground in a loud thud, his heavy body easily laying flat as he loses consciousness. I wasn't sure if he was sleeping or dead.
"Jungkook, are you-"
He immediately denies it. "I'm not fucking gay!"
"Okay, Okay," I hold my hands up in defeat. If I continue to pry he'd probably attack me like before.
Jungkook gets to his feet and throws off his jacket in disgust. I felt somewhat bad since he seemed to have been molested by the poor drunk. It's hilarious to see him act this way since I often plagued him with gay jokes.
I guess this was better than seeing him with another girl. After last night, I told him that I'd keep myself reserved for him but under the circumstance that we weren't yet official. That meant that our feelings were there, understood, and secured. But we, in a way, weren't.
So I expected him to keep his words.
"I need a shower," he groans. Jungkook then kicks the drunkard in the gut before walking out the door.
I follow him to his bedroom.
