chap 42 ; everything is alright

"shawn does not have cancer. we were able to remove the tumor perfectly. everything about him is fine" she said

me and shawn's mom let out a sigh of relief

"thank you so much doctor. is there anything we need to know?" shawn's mom asked

"you're welcome. and shawn may be staying in here a little longer. just until tomorrow, because he is still recovering from his surgery" she told us

"alright. when can we see him?" i asked

"you can see him now if you'd like" she said

i looked over to mrs. mendes to see if she wanted to go in

"you can go ahead emma. i'll see him tomorrow when he is awake and recovered" she said

"um. yeah, i'll just see him tomorrow. thank you again doctor" i said

"no problem. bye" she said and waved at us

"what do you want to eat for lunch?" shawn's mom asked as we both got into the car

"we should just eat somewhere tomorrow for dinner. as a celebration for shawn's recovery. but for our lunch, we could just buy a few groceries and make ourselves a lunch" i said

"aye, that doesn't sound bad. good idea emma. you're also really smart. i like you a lot already" she said and i chuckled

-at shawn's house-

when we arrived back from the grocery store. i helped mrs. mendes set up the food to make our lunch.

"can i call my mom? she was really worried about shawn when she found out he had a tumor" i asked

"of course sweetie" she said and i made my way up to shawn's room

i took my phone and began calling her.

*phone convo*

mom - "hello?"

me - "hey mom"

mom - "hey sweetie. is everything alright back there?"

me - "everything is fine. shawn has gotten out of surgery, and they took out the tumor well. he's recovering right now"

mom - "phew. i was worried about him"

me - "i know. i was worried to"

mom - "look sweetie, i gotta go. bryan found himself a date, and he said he 'needs help' on how to do it"

me - "wow. well okay. bye mom, love you"

mom - "love you to sweetie. stay safe"

me - "i will"

*end of phone convo*

after talking to my mom. i went back downstairs to go help out shawn's mom.

as i reached the kitchen, there was food already placed on the table

"whoa mrs. mendes, i wanted to help cook too. but you're already done. did i take that long on the phone?" i asked as i took a seat at the table

"haha, no sweetheart. the sphagetti was really easy. so it didn't take long" she said and began to eat the sphagetti in her plate

"i'm really sorry i wasn't able to help you cook" i said and took some of the food

"it's fine emma. it really is" she said

-after dinner-

"goodnight mrs. mendes. thank you for dinner" i said

"no problem emma. have a good sleep" she said

i made my way to shawn's bed and then slowly drifted alseep
