nine lives

i was the embodiment of curiosity
drowned in questions after questions
a feline creature wondering, thinking,
"these nine lives, what do i make of it?"

you came barging in with an entourage
flipping things over and turning my world upside down
the sense in every nonsense
an answer to a lifetime of prayers

darling, you bled with acceptance
it seeped through every fiber, every atom
of my naive being
you were my second coming

came one unfortunate night
the walls we've built, our fortress
facades of false joy, dissolved into nothing
im sorry these nine lives weren't enough
