The next week was a blur for everyone, especially Robin. One of the spare rooms in the cave had been converted into Robin's treatment room, since the team refused to abandon him again and the private medical room in the cave was too small for all of them and the equipment.

Robin had gotten poked with numerous needles and gotten many blood samples taken, as well as getting a new diet and sleep schedule. The boy just wished he could've gone with the surgery, anything was better than having to be poked with all those needles.

He also managed to convince Batman to let him tell the team his secret identity, because he couldn't keep that hidden forever, especially not when he was not gonna wear his mask during treatment.

So, he walked through the zeta tube in Gotham Knights sweatpants, a white tee shirt, a zip up runners jacket, and his mask was firmly in place on his face.

He was greeted by his team and he smiled weakly at them, but that smile soon turned into a grimace, which quickly turned into a cough, which violently turned into hacking, which splattered blood everywhere.

"Rob!" Wally cried as he surged forward to brace his teammate. He didn't have any right to call Robin his best friend, not after what he did and caused. Robin's small form was shaking as he kept coughing, and Artemis knelt down next to them and began rubbing soothing circles on Robin's back while Megan used her powers to ease some of his pain.

After five minutes of coughing, he stopped and caught his breath. Once he did he looked up and had Wally help him stand, "th-thanks, I really appreciate this."

"It's the least we can do Robin, especially after all the pain we caused you." Wally said, and Artemis nodded. "You're our little brother, you might be immature and childish, but you have helped us all."

"You didn't deserve the crap we gave you," Connor blatantly told him and Robin chuckled. "That's debatable, anyway, I'm gonna have to be in the room alone for a few minutes while my doctor gets everything set up. I'll have her let you in once we're ready to start," they nodded and helped the boy wonder to the makeshift Radiology lab.

When they got there he went through the door alone, and they all sat back and waited. Five minutes later, the door opened and Dr. Leslie Tompkins exited the room.

"I've got to grab something from the med bay, please don't cause him stress. Richard's body can't handle much more stress on top of what he's going through," then she left. However the team was gaping at her words, she just openly called Robin Richard.

They quickly filed into the room and almost gasped, Robin's mask was held in his hand and his eyes were closed. His white shirt and jacket laid in the bathroom door hangar and his chest was bare. This exposed his horribly scared torso to the team, they recognized some of the scars as the bullet wounds he got in front of them, while others were just horrifying to look at.

"Robin?" Megan asked quietly and the boy sighed, and then very slowly his eyes began to open. Everyone gasped as his bare face revealed the most breathtaking blue eyes they'd ever seen, and a face they all recognized.

"No, way." Wally whispered while Artemis was gaping, "Dick?" She asked and he smiled innocently at her, "told you we'd laugh about it some day."

Artemis couldn't believe it. Dick Grayson, the kid of Bruce Wayne, the richest kid on the planet, was Robin? A kid who was bullied and hated yet loved and adored went out and risked his life fighting the worst the world had to offer.

"Why are you Robin? You're literally rich, you honestly don't even need to work a day in your life. How could a rich kid become Robin?" Artemis asked, and he sighed.

"I'll tell you my whole story after Leslie comes back," and right as he said that, the door opened t reveal Leslie. "Dick, the side effects are gonna hit you pretty hard. Since your cancer is already so far along, it's not gonna be pleasant."

He nodded and the team saw for the first time, raw fear and vulnerability in their youngests eyes. Leslie walked over and connected the monitors to his chest, and then she gently yet firmly held down his arm. His hand shot up and grasped her forearm and his body began to shake, "I-I'm scared." This shocked the team, Robin just openly admitted to being scared and he looked terrified. "It's gonna be ok Dick, this won't be like before. You're gonna be ok," he hesitantly nodded and let go of her arm. Everyone watched as she slid the needle into his arm and how Robin's body arched like the needle was poisoned, which technically wasn't wrong.

Tears began to roll down from Robin's eyes as he slowly went limp in the chair, all his energy seeming to have left his body. "I-it's hot, this doesn't feel right. Leslie, why is the needle hot?" He asked as tears rolled down his face and the team felt their hearts break at the boys natural fear.

"Rob, Dude, look at us." Robin slowly turned towards the team and they felt devastated, his eyes had already begun to dull and his skin already paled than before. "We're right here, and we're not gonna leave your side." Wally said and Robin nodded his head, then slowly reached his hand out for Wally to take, which he didn't hesitate to do.

The team all gathered around Robin and tried to offer him any support and comfort that they could, meanwhile Leslie slipped out of the room and watched from the doorway.

"Just stay strong my friend, we shall take care of you now." Kaldur told Robin gently and the boy nodded his head before his eyes slowly slid shut, his body shutting down consciousness in favor of attacking the deadly cells that were inside of his body.

The team all made a silent pact, to be there for Robin in any way they could while he struggled through this. To make this as painless as they could, because he had done so much for them even when they didn't realize it, it was their turn. To care for their little bird.
