When Katya arrived at Trixie's diner, she wasn't expecting to feel so nervous. Why would she be nervous? She spent the night sleeping in her bed for Christ's sake. Taking a deep breath, Katya pushed the door open, making the little bell ring. Katya was surprised to see the diner so full. Then again, when she thought about it, of course it would be fuller when it's not past midnight. It was lunch time and the diner was buzzing with hungry customers. Katya made her way to the counter, where someone she didn't recognize was taking orders. Katya waited in line patiently.
"Hey doll, what can I get for you?" She asked, getting ready to write her order.
"Oh um, could you please tell me where Trixie is? I was supposed to meet her here" Katya said, feeling a bit awkward.
The waitress's face lit up.
"Ah, you must be Katya, right? She mentioned you earlier. She's ordering supplies right now, i'll go tell her you're here. Stay close!" She said, right before running through the "staff only" door.

Two minutes later, both Trixie and the waitress were back.
"Well I have to get back to taking orders, see ya!" The waitress said, leaving Trixie and Katya at the table.
"She seems nice." Katya said, breaking the silence.
"She is! Her name is Bob, i'm sure you'll get to know her soon" Trixie grinned.
Katya was confused to begin with, and it was only getting worse.
"What do you mean? She asked.
"Well, I thought about it. I need more helping hands, you need a job... why don't you work here?" Trixie said, with enthusiasm that could outshine a night show host's.
Katya was speechless. This girl. This beautiful, kind, amazing girl, just kept on giving. Trixie was nothing less than an Angel in Katya's eyes.
"I- are you serious? You're not kidding, right?" Katya asked, just to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.

Trixie shook her head, smiling knowingly at the woman in front of her.
Katya had to stop herself from screaming. Words couldn't describe how happy she was. Finally, she could start a new life. She could forget everything that happened before.

"Katya? Why're you crying honey?" Trixie spoke, sounding concerned. Katya was confused for a moment, it wasn't until then when she realized that she was full on crying. She wiped her tears away with her hand, chuckling at the situation. Katya honestly didn't think she still had the ability to cry anymore.
"Happy tears." she choked out.
Trixie stood up from her seat. She walked over to Katya, and hugged her. For anyone else this action would only seem natural. Ordinary... Boring even. But both Trixie and Katya knew better. Katya let herself melt into Trixie's embrace, clinging onto her for dear life. It made the tears flow even heavier. Katya longed for warmth like this for so long and she didn't even know it. As for Trixie, she didn't know what she wanted, nor did she know what she was feeling. She just knew that Katya came to her like a lost puppy, waltzing her way into her heart. There was no way she could let her go back to living on the streets.
So the two girls stood there, holding each other in the middle of a busy diner.

When Katya's crying died down, Trixie was the first to pull away.
"Come on, i'll show you around. After all, you start working here tomorrow~" she said, breaking the intense vibe of their conversation.
Katya smiled, she still found it hard to believe all of this was real.
She let Trixie lead the way. They walked into the Kitchen, where she saw another unfamiliar face running around, preparing all sorts of foods.
"Hey kim, say hi to Katya~ she starts working here tomorrow!" Trixie said excitedly.
Kim didn't even look up from all the pots and pans, it was always like this during rush hour. Once she was in work mode there was no stopping her.
"Hiya Katya" she said with a smile, still focusing more on preparing the food.
"Hello" Katya said shyly, giving Kim a polite wave. Kim nodded.
Trixie nearly rolled her eyes at Kim's lack of communication skills, but instead just sighed.
After that, Trixie showed Katya the rest of the diner.

"That's pretty much it... Basically, starting tomorrow you're gonna be a waitress. Try not to spill anything hot on the customers and you'll be fine~ it's time for my night shift, wanna sit by the counter and watch me work? It'll be good for you to learn" Trixie winked, then started to walk towards the front of the diner. Katya followed her of course, sitting by the counter once they were out of the kitchen. There were some people sitting at the tables, compared to rush hour it seemed quite empty though. Katya observed Trixie. How she wrote down the orders in her little notebook, how she carried the trays and how she always smiled at the customers. She made it look so easy and elegant. Katya wondered how the hell she was able to make such a simple job look like art.

"Oi! The bloody 'ell is this crap? Ay blondie c'mere!" A guy suddenly shouted. Katya flinched at the way he spoke. She knew all too well what drunkards sound like, and he was definitely one of them. The man looked like he hasn't slept in months, his eyes were red and he was sweating like a pig. To make things worse, it was an hour before Trixie's shift ended, so the diner was practically empty. She watched intently as Trixie made her way over to him.
"Is something the matter sir?" Trixie asked him politely. Not that he deserved it.
"Why are there fucking pickles in my god forsaken burger do I look like a bloody turd to you?" He spat.
"No sir, but you never mentioned you didn't want pickles, would you like a new one?" She said, trying to stay calm. Katya could tell she was pissed though. The man stood up.
"I'll let this pass if you come with me out back real quick, barbie" he whispered so that only Trixie could hear, grabbing her arm. Trixie was startled, to say the least. It wasn't the first time a man made her uncomfortable, but no one ever touched her. Let alone so aggressively.
Katya, who was watching the whole time, saw him grabbing Trixie's arm.
She didn't think twice before walking straight towards them.
"Let go of her."

"And who the fuck do you think you are? My mum?" He said, still holding onto Trixie's arm tightly.
"I said let go. Now." Katya spoke a bit louder, stepping even closer.
"Yh? And what's a tiny little woman like you gonna do to stop me?" He said, pulling Trixie closer to him by her wrist. Katya saw the scared look in Trixie's glossy eyes. It made her want to rip that man's head off. Without hesitating, Katya took the hand he was holding Trixie with and twisted it behind his back.
"You were saying?" Katya smirked. The man was struggling against Katya's grip, but the more he struggled the more it hurt him. Trixie was amazed. She had no idea Katya could do something like that.
"Now get the hell out of my face before I call the police." Katya sounded surprisingly threatening.
It low key turned Trixie on that Katya was standing up for her like that. Not that she'd ever admit it.
The man nodded, too scared to even speak. Katya let go of him and he dashed through the door.

"...Any other hidden talents I should know about?" Trixie joked.
"Maybe~" Katya laughed, shrugging.
After the laughter died down, Trixie's expression got a bit more serious.
"Thanks... For helping me. I don't know what came over me. It was like, the moment he grabbed my arm, I couldn't bring myself to do anything." Trixie said, her voice breaking slightly at the last sentence.
"Hey it's okay... No one can blame you for that, please Don't feel bad" Katya said, rubbing Trixie's shoulder in attempt to comfort her.
Trixie nodded, her usual smile returning to her lips.
"Let's go home."
