There has been a movement of romanticizing pirates for a long time now.
Disney is largely most recently part of that movement with their Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Pirates are the epitome of rebellion: stealing; womanizing; alcoholic; greed-oriented; anti-establishment; murdering; tattooed; and scheming evil. When pirates are pictured as heroes this is straight out of the scripture about the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil when evil does something good it's saying that evil can do good apart from GOD and does not need to be in GOD's Will to be successful.
Well-known thieves in the Bible were the thieves on the cross. One of course repented while the other did not, even mocking JESUS on the cross. The other was Judas known for stealing and betraying JESUS. Today most people know what the phrase "he is a Judas" means. The Bible says that there will be no thieves in heaven and thou shalt not steal. So being a thief is a serious sin.
Why then do parents want to glorify and romanticize pirates and not just pirates but they also glamourize their lifestyle of debauchery and lewdness to children.
Everyone says that it's all just "make-believe fun," but you can't expect children to differentiate between what Mom and Dad say is fun and cool and behavior that is wrong? How confusing! The movie makes the thief a hero but I get in trouble when I steal....
Stop embracing evil that has been repackaged by the enemy and sold to an unsuspecting and Bible-illiterate generation.
One thing I can say about franchises like Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean by Disney is that they grow darker with each new release to move people into even darker subject matter....Satan knows what he is doing.
