Chapter 21

The following days of this week went by pretty much the same. Dennis would come in the morning to pick me and Lexi up for college, and then take me back to the apartment when my lessons were finished and sometimes I would go and meet Amelia at her office. Dennis promised me my relationship with Theo will be kept a secret because he was really happy for us. It seems Theo was the only male in his group who never had a girlfriend therefore our secret was safe.

Since Theo has told me about his past, we have been closer than ever in fact. At college he would always give me a loving smile that basically said ‘I love you’ and wink whenever no one was looking. Then in the evening he comes round or I go to his and just enjoy each other’s company. The love we both shared was getting stronger and needier in my opinion. I just wanted to kiss him all day long as my body was getting many reactions to his touch.

The weekend was coming up and I was in a dilemma already. My current job at Starbucks was getting in the way of my modelling job and Amelia advised me to leave Starbucks. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do as I loved working there. It gave me a normal life where no one knew who I was. But now if I still went to work, only God knows what will happen. My publicity has risen in the week and Amelia wasn’t taking any chances. I’d have to leave my job at Starbucks when I didn’t really want to.

“It’s not the end of the world Ava. You have a modelling career taking off and you still want to work at Starbucks?” Lexi questioned whilst sitting at the dining table.

It was Friday evening and we were having a junk food moment pigging out.

With a heavy sigh I replied, “You don’t understand, since I’ve been known to the press I feel like I don’t have any normal moments. There’s Dennis with me whenever I go out and photographers getting snaps which I know I have to get used to. But I feel like my normality has been thrown out the window, I can’t be the same me I was before I began modelling. Working at starbucks, I felt normal like everyone else working for a living and studying just like a normal teenager.”

Truth be told, I was having some moments when I regret revealing my identity to the world. Life was so much easier without having people follow your every move or watch you like a hawk.

“Okay now that you explained all that, I get where you’re coming from. But you have to make a decision because I am on the same page as Amelia when she says it’s for your safety. You worked at Starbucks for a while now and enjoyed it, but you need to move on. Most girls would do anything for a modelling career when you got it easily. And if you still continue to work at Starbucks I can assure you it will be harder than it was before people knew you. Just think about it for a while and then tomorrow when you decide what to do, I’ll be there with you.” Lexi finished. “Besides, you need a distraction and I think I know the perfect cure.”

Raising my eyebrow I asked, “What’s that?”

She got up and began to grab all the junk food. “Oh I can’t tell you that but what I can tell you to do is go change into something comfortable.”

“What!” I protested. “Why do I have to change? I’m already comfortable in what I’m wearing.”

Shaking her head whilst going to the kitchen Lexi answered, “Nope, go change because you’re going out. I’m kicking you out of the apartment girl.” She laughed as I followed her.

“Oh yeah, where am I going to go then?” I asked with my hands on my hips.

“Theo’s!” She chirped clapping her hands then pushing me in the direction of my room.

A few minutes later, I emerged from my room in grey bottoms and a black Mickey Mouse jumper with my favourite bejewelled white converses. Heading to the lounge where Lexi sat watching TV I stood in her way doing a twirl.
