Rachel Hopper is the definition of normal in her small town of Hawkins. She's an above average student. She's into photography and sometimes picks up a shift at the local pizza joint. The only abnormality is that the family she was adopted into was separated due to an unfortunate death. One morning, as Rachel's going through her daily routine with helping her father at the police station, a woman comes in hysterical. Her son is missing. That's when things start to downhill. A little girl in a tattered hospital gown is entering the picture, causing Rachel and a group of junior-highers to run from a group of scientists. Their world is turning upside down, but somehow so is she.
