The Next Day...
Water spills on you, quickly waking you up. You shake your head and rub your face to get the water out of your eyes
Jacob: Time to wake up Prodigy
You look up at him but notice the bars between you both. You realized you were in a big cage outside, along with many other cages with people in them. You see Pratt standing behind Jacob looking scared
Jacob: You've been a big pain in my ass lately. I've convinced Joseph to let me take you to my home. Make you a better person. Make you stronger. Make you know your purpose. You want to survive The Collapse don't you?
You just glare
Jacob: Glare all you want. It won't help you. When I'm done with you, you'll show me, John, and you're going to for sure as hell show Joseph some fucking respect
You spit at him but completely miss. He just laughs
Jacob: Look at you. Pathetic. Weak. The least you can do is be grateful that I'm letting you share your cell with your mute friend over there
He points at the corner. You look and see Rook unconscious on the floor. You crawl over to them and gently shake them. They groan but don't wake up
Jacob: They put up a real good fight Killed a few of my men. Good soldiers to. Their blood is on your hands since you helped The Deputy escape
You glare back at him
Jacob: Now you be a "good" Prodigy that you are and don't try anything stupid. There will be severe consequences and trust me when I say, you don't want to experience them. I'll come back later to check on you both so in the meantime, enjoy your new home
He leaves while whistling. Pratt looks at both you and Rook then follows Jacob. You look back at Rook and place their head on your lap while lying against the bars. You look around your surroundings. You could hear people crying while others begged for their lives as guards walk pass them. Some would hit the cell bars and tell them to shut up. Rook groans again. You look down at them. They were tossing and turning as if they were having a nightmare. You hold them closely so they don't hurt themselves. You lean back and shut your eyes, somehow dosing off for what felt like a second
*BANG*
You jump while waking up, almost having a heart attack. You look down. Rook wasn't lying on your lap anymore but by another corner of the cell curled up. You look over at Jacob and see him smirking from your reaction. He used his gun to hit the bars to wake you up
Jacob: I see you're both up finally. Guess what time it is?
You and Rook just stare at him
Jacob: That's right, breakfast
He unlocks and opens the door as Pratt goes in and puts one bowl of food and one bowl of water down. Rook quickly crawls over and starts eating while you stay where you're at. Pratt leaves as Jacob closes the door
Jacob: Eat up Prodigy. Need you one hundred percent for your trial. I should say, your test
You roll your eyes and look away from him. You were tired of that word
Jacob: Hmm
He looks at Pratt
Jacob: Give me that bowl of food
Pratt: Yes sir
He picks up another bowl of food and gives it to Jacob. He snatches it from Pratt, opens the door again, heads in and walks over to you. Rook pays no attention to him and keeps eating. You look up at him when you hear his boots approach you. He places the bowl down next to you
