When Audrey got home from work on her birthday and opened the door, she wasn't expecting to be greeted by decorations. She shut the door behind herself as she took it all in.
The streamers, the balloons, and the kindly smiling man on her couch that was holding a bright pink birthday cake, 23 candles standing on it, burning brightly.
"Welcome back, my love," he said to her.
Audrey smiled, deep in thought as she walked forwards slowly, seeing that he had thought of everything, as there were even plates on the table, and a knife to cut the cake.
The man's eyes twinkled, and he stood up, still smiling brightly. He came to embrace her, but Audrey blinked, taking a step backwards, realization of the problem dawning upon her.
She didn't know who this man was, and she hadn't given out her key to anyone.
"Happy birthday, Audrey."
