Wally has a tendency to gorge on food on random days. He'll just walk into the kitchen and start pulling shit out of the fridge and cupboards.
One day Sammy sat there and watched him eat a cooked steak, seven cookies, three pancakes, a bowl of noodles and nearly half a tub of ice cream without showing physical discomfort at all and joked that Wally was like a "tiny hungry beetle."
The nickname stuck, and now when Wally's being cute or a bean or eating a lot people tend to call him "Beetle."
He acts like he hates it, but he really loves the attention.
