I push my broccoli around my plate with my fork not muttering a word since I found out my mom was fucking my ex. Even though I dated him four years ago, when I was Sixteen and he was Twenty four.

"Baby." Kentrell says grabbing my attention, I look up shaking my head out of the thoughts surrounding my head.

"Yeah?" I asked looking at him, I look around the dining room noticing everyone looking at me.

"What?" I asked scrunching my face up hating the fact on how everybody's attention was on me.

"I asked you how is everything at the apartment? Are you settled in?" She asks listing a couple questions.

"I mean i been living there going on two months so it's good, I can't complain about it." I shrug eating a forkful of collard greens.

"So, how did you guys...get together." I said doing hand movements gesturing between the two. My mom laughs putting her fork down, putting her hand on Jonathan's Closed fist. I glance at him seeing him already staring me down. I look away awkwardly not wanting Kentrell to notice.

"One day, I was out getting groceries and I ran into Jonathan, we started talking and we just hit it off from there." She smiles, I let a small smile grace my lips noticing she was happy. I looked at Rakim, seeing him shake his head looking at me. I sighed forgetting that he knew about my old relationship with Jonathan.

"I don't like yo ass, I don't know what it is, But you suspect as hell." Rakim says out of nowhere, not taking his eyes off of Jonathan. My eyes widen watching him picking his cup of sweet tea up taking a sip.

"Rakim!" My mom exclaims looking at him surprised.

"What? I said what I said." He says shrugging taking a bite out of his fried chicken wing.

"Well...If you happy Ma, I'm happy for you."I said awkwardly knowing damn well I was lying like shit. I noticed the tension in the room, since it got quiet for a minute, she smiles picking her fork up going back to eating.
