Aubrey's P.O.V

"No fucking way," Savannah said, in disbelief. "That's what happened? But why the hell would your boss be all up in your dating life?"

I swallowed nervously. "Well, he's kind of my ex-"

She cut me off. "Boyfriend?"

"Husband."

There was silence at the other line. "WHAT? Are you saying that you were supposed to go on a date with Logan Hunter and you were actually married to the Bryce Roberts? You have got to be kidding me!"

I wish I was kidding me too. "So that's how my night went."

I spotted a heart shaped lamp by the dresser. That's odd. I swear I have the exact same one back at...

"Umm, Savannah I'll call later. Something came up." I didn't bother to reply, but simply cut the call.

I went over to the dresser and examined the lamp. It was identical to mine; with the same scratch marks I remember had been on it.

"No," I mumbled. It can't be.

My feet carried me to the closet. I yanked it open. To say I was surprised was probably an understatement.

My clothes were hung up in there, and some were folded. I also opened the dresser, all my clothes was neatly folded in each draw. Colour coordinated.

"That bastard." I spat. He had dared to touch my stuff!

Well, it's not like he hasn't seen any of my garments before...

My phone began to ring again, for the second time again this morning. I looked at the screen. It was an unknown number.

"Hello?" I spoke.

"Good morning, Aubrey. Did you have a swell evening? How is the hangover?"

I almost forgot about my headache. It was slowly subsiding. I'm definitely never drinking again.

I scoffed. "Who the hell gave you the right to manhandle my clothes?" I snarled, my tempers rising.

He released a breathy laugh. "I did not manhandle them. I packed them away neatly. And stop being so modest, I remember how much you loved it when I stripped them off that delicious body of yours."

I blushed completely. I'm pretty sure that even my ears are red. "So, is my stuff all here?" I asked, changing the topic. I was really embarrassed at the moment and didn't need to remember those memories.

"That is correct. Any other queries?"

I paused a moment. "Yeah. I actually do. Mind telling me where the heck I am?" I inquired, taking a peek out of the curtain.

It was just way past sunrise, and the sun's rays danced on the surface of the Hudson River in the distance. There was minimal traffic along the road below, and the surrounding buildings all seemed so posh.

"Upper East Side."

I had a hunch. "Hmm. Fancy." I said in a sing song voice. "So how much is the rent?"

He chuckled lightly. "Don't worry about that. I'll see you at the office tomorrow, seven sharp." Then the call ended.

The audacity! It's kind of ironic how I had done the same to Savannah a few minutes ago.

I called her back. "Took you long enough. So, what did you find out?"

"Well," I began, exiting the room. "I found out where my new apartment is; Upper East Side. Some posh neighbourhood."

She gasped very audibly. "Nice! That's sweet. You know, I really think that he still loves you."

I scoffed, walking down the small corridor, surveying it. There was another door adjacent to the one I had just exited.

"I doubt that. I'm pretty sure he has a long list of fuck buddies. His last secretary being one of them." I rambled, to going to open the door. It was another bedroom, probably a guest one.

"Typical billionaire. So, how big is the condo?"

The room wasn't really as big as mine. "It's huge! And I don't even have to pay rent." I bragged happily, taking the stairs down to the living room.

"We are totally having a house warming party there." She chirped. I could already imagine her planning everything.

Some bits of my furniture were scattered all over the place. Maybe Bryce isn't really a bad guy.

"Slow down, Savannah. This is a really fancy schmancy neighbourhood, I don't think the snobby people here would appreciate that. But we can have a get together just the two of us."

"I like the sound of that." She squealed happily.

I was now by the double door fridge, trying to find something to eat. It was filled to the brim, food galore.

I took out a tub of strawberry yogurt. "I'll let you go for now. Bye Savannah."

"Bye Aubrey."

Now that I wasn't talking on the phone, there was pin drop silence in the apartment.

My new home.

It felt good being in the luxurious shower, with the head spraying hot water all over my body, tantalizing my muscles.

It was Monday morning, my least favourite time of the week.

I closed the faucet, stepped out of the shower and wrapped a clean white towel around my small frame.

My chosen outfit for the day was a white formal dress, paired with white flats. It wasn't too short, ending just above my knee and it was a bit tight.

No slacks for you, Bryce.

Fifteen minutes later I was in the elevator, headed for the ground floor. Edwin had notified me he was waiting for me downstairs. How he had gotten my number, I don't know.

The usual black Escalade was parked by the curb, with Edwin holding the door open for me.

"Good morning, Aubrey." He smiled, gesturing me to hop in.

"Morning, Edwin. How was your weekend?" I asked, taking a seat and buckling my belt.

He shut the door, and got in the driver's seat. "Probably not as eventful as yours. Are you liking the new environment?"

"Very much so, Eddie. Do you mind if I call you that?"

The engine roared to life, and soon we were entangled in the New York traffic. Another reason to hate Monday mornings.

He glanced at me through the view mirror. "Of course not, you can call me whatever you are comfortable with."

I smiled politely, fixing my gaze on the rushing objects outside. "I told you Mr Roberts wasn't a bad guy."

I kept silent for a bit. "I guess not."

If only I had known I was severely wrong about that.
