While getting my books from my locker, I didn't notice Mal running up to me. This caused me to shriek and drop everything when she yelled in my ear, "BEN JUST ASKED ME ON A DATE!""AH! Okay! Jeez M, can you get any louder!" I laughed while picking up my books.
"Sorry! And this isn't the time for jokes! This is serious!" She said while helping me.
"Okay. Breathe. Relax." I said trying to calm her down, "Everything will be okay. It's just a date! With a guy who really likes you! It'll be easy."
"How do you know that! You've never been on one before!" Okay, ouch. "Sorry, I'm just really nervous."
"I know you are! But you will be okay! It's Ben we're talking about. Trust me, he really likes you! Even if you show up in a potato sack, he'll still think you're stunning. I mean, not that you will be, because me and Evie will be helping you get ready!" I reassured her.
"Thanks R. You know, you're really nice." She smiled at me.
"Why don't you tell Ben that, he doesn't believe me!"

"Okay. Easy on the blush. I don't want to scare him away." Mal said while I curled her hair. I snorted and said, "Not that you could.""Please. My mom taught me how to apply blush before I could talk. Always use upward strokes." Evie said
"My mom was never really big on makeup tips. I never had a sister." Aw, now I feel bad. You know what, maybe I'll add a few of my special flower pins just for that.
"Well now you've got yourself two." I said to her while adding the final touches to her hair.
"Trust me, we're going to need all the family we can get If we don't pull this off. My mother's not a barrel of laughs when she doesn't get her way. Just ask Snow White." Evie said to Mal. I didn't know what she was talking about, but I had a feeling it wasn't about Mal's date. I didn't pry though, because I had a feeling they didn't want me in on it.
"Are you afraid of her?" Mal asked Evie
"Sometimes. Are you afraid of your mom?"
"I just really want her to be proud of me. She gets so angry with me when I disappoint her. And sh- yeah, she's my mom, so I know she loves me...In her own way.""I get it." They both looked up at me surprised. "I mean, nobody wants to disappoint their parents. But sometimes, they have a little too high of standards and we can't always meet them, you know?"
"Yeah. I do." Mal nodded.
"Your parents get angry at you? But they're the good guys." Evie said confused."Well, yeah sometimes. Like, if I don't do things that they ask me to do that will eventually help me later in life. But when you're younger, you don't really know that, which is why they yell when you do, or don't do, certain things. Every parent does it, even the 'good guys'." I explained. I know it may not be completely relatable to them, but I wanted to show them that we're not as different as everybody thinks.
".....andddd done!" I said, adding the last pin.
"Come see." Evie guided Mal to the mirror.
"Oh!" She said sounding surprised
"I know."
"I look..."
"Say it."
"Not hideous."
"Pffft. Not even close.""R! My hair looks amazing! What are these little shiny things?" Mal asked
"Oh, they're bobby pins! You usually use them to pin up your hair, but these ones are decorative ones. They're my mom's, but she gave them to me."
"Wait, who's your mom?" Evie asked
"I never told you guys? My mom is Rapunzel." I answered
"Oh that's why you're so good at hair" Evie said
"Aww, thank-"
But I got cut off by Benjamin knocking on the door. I opened it and when he saw Mal, he said, "For the first time, I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful." Ugh. BARF. But I wish someone would say that to me. "I hope you like bikes."
"Wait, where's my bi-" I was cut off by Ben closing the door.
"So! What's up in Rachael's little world?" Evie asked me while she plopped down on her bed and patted the spot next to her.
"Eh, not much. Just a bunch of boring kingdom-y stuff that'll put you to sleep." I answered while sitting.
"No silly! I mean, things like, who you're bringing to Ben's coronation? Or who you'd like to bring."
Should I tell Evie? I mean, she is close friends with him. But she wouldn't tell, would she? No. Right?
"Hello? Anybody home?" Evie chuckled while tapping my head.
"Oh yeah, I mean I guess there's one person."
She gasped. "Who?"
"Promise me you wont tell? Well, you can tell Mal, but nobody else. Oh! And she can't tell anyone because if he finds out-"
"R? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I'm not forc-"
"Carlos!" I blurted out.
Uh oh.
"Awwww! Wait really!"
"Well yeah. But I don't know if I like him. It's just weird." I mumbled.
"What do you mean?" She asked
"It's just, I don't know. Like, when you see Doug-"
"Wait-"
"You feel weird right? It's kinda like, I want to throw up, but like, it feels good at the same time. And I hate when he's around, but I never want to leave when he's there. And I can never speak normally or think straight when he's there and it's just- UGH. Is this weird? I should see the nurse, right? I'm gonna go se-"
"Rachael." Evie said, grabbing my attention, "I think you like him."
"Oh COME ON!"

(A/n: sorry if I went on a lil bit of a tangent about Carlos, but I wanted to make the chapter longer and wanted Evie and her to bond and for her to know, so this is how I did it. K bye)
