Forever Doesn't Last

Tell me how I can erase my mistakes?

All I seem to do is cause you pain.

How did we end up like this?

Our once smiling faces turned into sadness and anger.

When we were suppose to be together forever or,

I thought forever would be with you.

As I hoped,

hoped that it would be with you.

Now I'm on the end,

On the end of this path with you.

Watching you slowly fade from view

as I sit here vulnerable,

with nothing left to do.

We pass one another in the streets

now all we are,

Are strangers to never meet.

The once painful memories have been burned in our minds,

Never to be forgotten not even in time

We finally realized after all this is done.

It's not forever,

not forever for us.

Though we once wished,

Wished it would be forever for us.

Now we're on our own paths, never to be heard from again.

Moving on with new people in our lives,

but never forgetting the past as it lingers in our minds.

Our once upon time turned sour in the end,

however I don't regret the time that we spent.

Because you'll forever be in my heart,

even if it left a dent.
