“Isn’t that the point of it all? To have kids, have a pretty wife, and live with your family until the day you die as an old, wrinkly man. Isn’t that the point of life?” I reached for her hand before she could attempt to wipe away the tears.

“And I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” I said as her face glistened within the candlelight. She smiled her signature smile that has made me fall in love with her. “I want you to marry me.”

“Nam Joon,” She started while she looked at our hands held together like a knitted sweater. “That was a very intricate answer to a simple question.”

I smiled and looked around at the other people that were sitting at the table, gawking at our ridiculous dinner. “You asked what you should write for your thesis paper for college. And I said that you should write about how life is supposed to go. The point of life.”

She craned her neck to me and placed her chin on the back of her hand. “You are a brilliant man. One I would be lucky enough to marry.”

I focus my eyes on hers and saw them twinkle as the tears were starting to dry up. “I must be if I brought you to tears.”

She realized that she was starting to cry and she lifted a napkin to her eyes and patted them dry. “Something flew into my eye.”

I rolled my eyes at her comment. “I’m sure my brilliantness flew into your eye.”

“Whatever you say.” She said, her words flowing off of her tongue like velvet.

She pulled away from my hands and I tightened my grip. “I’m serious. I will marry you.”

She pulled her hand away from our self-made knit and held up her left hand to reveal the diamond ring that I gave to her a month ago. “And I want to marry you too. Or else I wouldn’t still be having this rock on my finger.”

I smiled and she ate the last bite of cake on our plate and glanced at the check sitting on our table, untouched.

I stood up from the table and grabbed the check and moved to the front of the restaurant. I noticed at the corner of my eye that my fiancé moved out of the doors and traveled outside in the cold.

“Did you enjoy your meal, sir?” The man who took my bill asked.

“Yes, everything was amazing.” I said, smiling and grabbing bills from my wallet.

The man gladly accepted the bills and gave me the change. I rushed outside because I knew that it was cold outside.

When I stepped outside I saw my fiancé’s face being held by another man. I could see the lust in his eyes as he connected his lips onto hers.

I rushed to them and grabbed her shoulder and ripped her from his grasp. I connected my fist to his jaw and watched him fall to the ground. I saw his face. Taehyung was looking up at me with wide eyes and holding the side of his face.

“Taehyung, what the hell?” I said as I lunged forward at him but was held back by her grasp.

“Nam Joon, don’t,” She said as I looked into her eyes. She looked hurt by my actions and her eyes were starting to get wet with tears.

I groaned, turned away and started running. I heard Taehyung and the love of my life calling my name but I couldn’t bring myself to look behind me. How could my best friend kiss my fiancé like that? With such lust and angst.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned my body to see a crying version of the woman I fell in love with.

As soon as I stopped she reached up and wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me as tightly as I could. I ripped her arms away.

“What were you doing with him?” I asked angrily. I could see her big eyes get sad and all I wanted to do was wrap her around me and protect her.

“I’m sorry Nam Joon. He kissed me I promise,” she said through tears.

“Why did he kiss you?” I asked, just as mad.

She looked at the ground. “I’m not sure.”

I rolled my eyes and turned away from her. I felt her grab my hand.

“Please believe me,” she said desperately. “It meant nothing to me, Nam Joon. You are the man I love. Not anyone else. You mean everything to me and if I lose you, I don’t think I can do anything.”

I looked into her eyes. “Please tell me you are telling the truth.”

“I will tell you the truth until the day I die. I have no other reason to say anything different.” She said as I pulled her into my chest. I knew that I could believe her because she is the woman I love and trust. She is my everything too. Forever.
