Y/n pov

No one sees it, only me. Everyone has one. It's a string connecting one person to another. It took me awhile to figure out what it means but eventually, it came to me. The string, it connects you to your soulmate. To your fate. To your other half.

I've seen so many people pass by their soulmates not even knowing it. It hurts me for some reason. It hurts to see people with someone else instead of their own soulmate. And knowing that one day they will break up as well, it hurts.

Now I need to tell you something. Yes, I can see my own string but I feel like it can't be true. My string is connected to my childhood friend Lee Felix. I have a crush on him but I don't think he does. Yes, our strings are connected but I still haven't figured out all the things about the strings.

One day, Felix comes to me and tells me something I wish I never heard.

"Y/n, I have a girlfriend finally. And she loves me!"

My heart shatters. It can't be true. Maybe they will break up? Our strings are connected so I still have a chance. I just need to wait for them to break up.

1 month. It has been a month since Felix told me he has a girlfriend. After that day, my string started fading but very slowly. I only noticed it after a week. Why was it fading? I though we were supposed to be together? What is happening?

I'm staring out my bedroom window watching the kids run around at the park. They all look so happy. Some of them have strings connected to each other. It's strange. How could a child already have a soulmate? I still have lots to learn I guess.

I fall asleep at my desk and wake up to the darkness of my room. I look around my room. There's red sparkles all over my room floating around. I look at my wrist. It's gone.

"N-no...no...where did it go?" Tears are streaming down my face.

What the hell happened? Aren't I and Felix suppose to be soulmates!? No! Without even realizing it, my mother comes running into my room.

"Y/n! What's wrong?! What happened?"

I look up at her and cry even more. She wraps her arms around my shaking body.

"It's gone...! Why is it gone?!" I repeat these words over and over.

I look around my room again after I stopped crying. The red sparkles dissolved. I look back down at my wrist. I don't have a red string anymore. I don't have a soulmate.
