WORD COUNT:1318

𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰

ethan stares in the mirror, examining his face.

you see an incredibly attractive, funny, kind, caring man with perfectly arched brows, perfectly sloped hazel eyes that show little specks of green in the sunlight, perfectly soft, pink lips that you love to kiss and a perfect defined jawline. to you, everything is perfect about him. you can't see a single flaw in ethan; he's every girls dream guy.

ethan doesn't see the same as you. he sees a boring, unattractive and annoying 19 year old with weird hair, he thinks his nose is too big, apparently his smile is awful and he thinks his eyes are boring. it seems as if everyday ethan begins to dislike himself more and more to the point where you think it may be hatred. you want him to love himself and see all of the amazing things about him that you and everyone else can see but he just can't.

a memory suddenly comes to you. when you and ethan had begun dating, you were just as insecure as him or even worse. he was fine at the time and you weren't, now the roles are reversed. you're okay and he's not. you used to think that your blonde hair and brown eyes were basic and boring, you thought you came across as mean and you also hated the way that in certain angles your double chin was so obvious. ethan taught you that your hair and eye colour are completely irrelevant to who you are as a person, he said that you were the funniest and most affectionate girl he's ever met — that's not related to him because the love he has for his family members is endless — and he always says that he thinks your double chin is your cutest feature.

he advised you to look in the mirror everyday and pick out one small thing you like about yourself. one tiny thing. it could be something as small as a freckle or birth mark on your body, or something more noticeable like your nose or the shape of your body. either way, what he told you really did help and to this day you occasionally still thank him for it because it's made a drastic change in your life.

you begin to think of ways that you can help him like he helped you but can't. so you tell ethan that you'll be back in a minute and you take your phone with you into the bathroom. you google 'how to help someone feel less insecure' and you're pleased with the amount of results that come up on your phone. you copy and paste some of them onto notes, thinking they could be rather useful. after a while, you have five good tips in your notes.

-find the roots of his insecurity (ask him what makes him feel insecure and talk about it)
-reasurre him (ask him what will make him feel better and things i can do or we can do to together to help)
-stop him from comparing himself to other people
-make sure he's not around people that make him feel insecure
-understand what he's saying from his point of view
