The day of the operation was here.
Alan was laid out on the hospital bed, waiting for the time he would be taken under the knife.
Ellis held onto his love's hand and whispered encouraging words into his ear.
Alan gripped onto Ellis' hand tighter as seconds went on.
"Ellis, I love you. I'll never stop loving you, you know that, right?"
"I know Alan. I know. I love you too, so much."
Alan smiled weakly, "Ellis, what if- what if I don't come back?"
Alan's words gave Ellis an uneasy feeling but he just smiled back, "you will, don't worry. It'll be fine."
They stayed in silence for the last few minutes before the nurses walked in to take him to the operation room.
As Alan was being rolled away, he spoke one more time, "I love you so much, Ellis. Never forget that."
"I love you too Alan." Ellis said back before watching as the love of his life was pushed through the doors that led to the OR.
A tear escaped his eye and Ellis was quick to wipe it away, the uneasy feeling had never left.
"It'll be fine. It has to be." He mumbled.
