Unexpected Addition

Day 2 Part 2

    Lauren checked into her new hotel and walked up to her room, still wearing her hoody and sunglasses. She put her suitcase off to the side out of the way and decided to go out and buy a baby toy for Camila, since she only had 1 hour left she decided to go to Target.
    20 minutes later
    Lauren arrived at Target and immediately walked into the baby section. She found an adorably yellow pacifier with baby Dory on it from Finding Dory, and decided to buy it. Not knowing how old Camila is, Lauren got her a baby keyboard that lights up when you press a key, hoping that Camila likes the toy. When she looks at the time she sees she has a little over 20 minutes until the social worker is expected at the hotel, so she heads to the register. The cashier rings up the items and Lauren pays and walks back to her hotel. By the time she walks into the lobby she sees a woman trying to calm down a baby. The woman looks up and sees Lauren and walks to her.  "Are you Lauren Jauregui?"
    "Yes, this is she. May I ask who you are?"
    "Yes, I am Katie Stephenson, I am the social worker in charge of young Karla Camila Cabello." Katie says.
    "Oh, I do apologize, I was not given the name of the social worker. Would you like to come up with me to my hotel room?" Lauren responds.
    "No problem, I understand."
    "Not to be insulting, however, I do recognize Karla, but I was not given your name earlier, and I just want to verify that it was you I was supposed to see. I just want this to be as safe as possible for Cam- I mean Karla." Lauren said.
    "I completely understand." Katie answers. Katie follows Lauren into her hotel room and places a fussy camila, who is in her carseat still, down on the middle of Lauren's mattress. "Lauren picks up her phone, opens her recent calls and calls the last number that was unknown, recognizing it as the lawyer working on Camila's case.
    "Hello, this is the Mendez law firm, answering for Shawn Mendes. How may I assist you?" A receptionist answers. Greeaat. "Hello, this is Lauren Jauregui, I was contacting the lawyer working on Karla Cabello's case."
    "Yes, that would be Shawn Mendes."
    "Yes, thank you, may I please speak with him. I have a question that I need answered?" Lauren asks.
    "I do apologize, however, Mr. Mendes is currently in a meeting at this time and can not answer his phone may I be of any assistance?"
    "Alright, I was wanting to know the name of the social worker on Karla Camila Cabello's file, please?"
    " No problem. I am showing the social worker's name is Katie Stephenson." Katie answers.
    "Thank you very much. Have a nice day." Lauren says. She then hangs up the phone and turns to Katie and Camila. "Thank you for giving me time to make the phone call and verify if it was you I was to meet." Lauren says.
    "It was no problem." Katie has an opened notebook out and Lauren can already see she has taken notes on her. Which is making Lauren very anxious. "Is it alright to take Karla out of her carseat now and spend time with her?" Lauren asks.
    "In just one moment, I want to make sure that money will not be an issue when you have custody of Karla. As it was heard from sources that you stated you didn't have money."
    "I am so sorry, it is not that I do not have money it is that I did not want to spend almost $3000 on a hotel room for 3 days as I wanted to spend my money on necessities and things for little Karla there."
    "So there is no money issue?"
    "That is correct, no money issue." Lauren reiterates. "Am I allowed to interact with Karla now?"
    "Yes, you may." Lauren the takes out the toy piano that has the light up keys and opens the package, while the social worker starts writing more notes down in her notebook. Once the piano is out if the package Lauren places it on the mattress and takes Camila out of the carseat, which immediately stops the fussing. Camila looks at Lauren with a smile on her face and Lauren sits on the mattress and pulls the piano toward her and Camila. "Look mama, it lights up." Lauren then presses a key and Camila just stares at the toy. Almost as if she is trying to figure out where the sound came from or why it lights up. "You know, I think I will start calling you Camz from now on mama." Lauren speaks to the baby.
