Haunted

Of course, I had fantasized about such events. I've always been a writer. My brain never stops contriving impossible daydreams. It's worse right before bed or on long drives. I've read my share of books on the subject as well. Novel after novel, year after year, publishers put out romances in far off locations. Heroines are swept away to lands far from their own, sometimes disappearing without a trace.

Perhaps, since I ached for my own life to move forward, whatever controlled the wardrobe sensed that longing in me. After so much optimism and excitement about my future, I had been curtailed by one rejection letter after another. I was in a rut, but desperately trying to claw my way out of it and find a new path.

The wardrobe opened the door to such a chance. They say travel brings fresh perspective. I've had more than my fair share of it beyond the gateway of this Earth. Though I will forever be haunted by my choices.
