I left Alexander, standing by his locker. There was surely a blush on his cheeks, his fair skin colour did nothing to conceal the blood, rushing to his face when he was flattered. It was adorable. I never thought the word adorable would go along with tall and handsome, but life was full of surprises. If it hadn't made Alec so uncomfortable at lunch, I would have gone on with telling him nice things. It didn't seem like he was talked to that way often. The fact that my blue-eyed classmate dressed like fashion was a vanity didn't slip my notice. It was not looking bad, just as if no care was put into it at all. But to be honest, I couldn't imagine someone like him caring about appearance.
Although the blushing, he seemed to be confident and content with himself. Just not used to compliments. With his looks, it was a miracle that he didn't get more. Now that I had met him I wanted to get to know him even more. Alexander was truely attractive, inside and out.
I put my books into my own locker, before leaving the building, all with a wide smile plastered on my face. Today had been even better than I had imagined. Catarina was already waiting for me at the school's parking area.
As soon as I reached her we started walking down the street together. "How was your day?" my friend asked. Since we hadn't seen each other at lunch we had agreed to go to the Java Jones after school, the coffee shop was only a five-minute walk away.
"It worked," I stated happily, of course, I had told her all about my plan to get to talk to the Lightwood boy. She was the one I could talk to about everything. Ragnor, not so much, he prefered to make nasty comments all the time. "And Alexander is not only looking good, he's likeable too. I can't wait to learn more about him."
We reached our destination while I was telling her about lunch and history class and sat down in a booth. In return, she told me more about her experiences in Africa. I noticed my phone getting a notification somewhere along the line, but since I was with my friend I didn't check it.
After about one hour and a half we said our goodbyes and parted ways. While walking back to my car I took my phone out to see who had texted me. I immidiately smlied when I read the message.
Unknown Number: Hey Magnus, Alec here. It was nice getting to know you, maybe we can hang out again sometime. If you want to of course. I'm not good at expressing things, but you seem like a friendly guy
I chuckled to myself, it seemed like Alexander was better with phrases when he didn't have to say them out loud. It was also impossible to not be fond of the honesty the text contained. Alec was just upfront about the fact that wielding words wasn't for him.
To Alexander: I'd be a fool to reject that offer from a gorgeous guy like you 😉
I saved his contact and typed the reply before getting into my car and starting the drive home. Since it had only been the first day there was no homework to be done. Maybe Alec and I could spend some time together after school or at the weekend.
I was pretty sure that the blue-eyed boy wouldn't know how to respond to my compliment, just like he did back at lunch, but I didn't mind. He deserved to be told that he was attractive and nice, it was true after all. It didn't lower my confidence that he hadn't been returning any of the flattery. There was no need for Alexander to speak out that he was stunned by me, his behavior had shown enough.
As attractive as Alec was, for now, all I wanted to do was learn more about him and spend time with him. My last partner showed me that rushing into a relationship without really knowing the other person would only end in heartbreak. Even though I could never imagine the Lightwood being a backstabbing cheater, who doesn't care about other people's feelings, I wouldn't risk getting hurt like that again.
