Summer of 1998
Cascade Roller Rink [Atlanta, Georgia ]
I skated around the rink as I rocked to the music blasting
I gazed at the scenery of the rink and I remembered why I've loved coming here since my mom used to take me here when I was little. The music. The wonderful people. Everyone's just having a good time.
After a couple more minutes of skating I decided to take a brake and go to the food court.
I ordered a burger, fries, and a soda then sat at an empty table with my food.
After I blessed my food I opened my eyes to see this guy with a brown complexion and cornrows "Can I help you?" I asked with my eyebrow raised
He let out a chuckle "Sorry to step to you like this but I couldn't help to notice a fine girl like you sittin' all by yourself" He spoke revealing his thick southern accent
I revealed a small smirk "Mhm" I mumbled as i looked him up and down then took a sip of my soda
He furrowed his eyebrows and chuckled "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked
I took a long sip of my soda "I'm probably the fifth girl you've talked to tonight" I spoke dryly before letting out a chuckle
He chuckled as he shook his head "Oh nah, you got it all wrong sweetheart" He challenged
I batted my eyes at him "I'm not your sweetheart" I retorted
He rose his hands up in surrender "Okay Sorry, well what's your name beautiful?" He asked
I rolled my eyes playfully "Y/N" I answered
He chuckled "That's a beautiful name, I'm Andre, can I spit something for you?" He asked
My eyebrows furrowed "what?" I questioned as I sipped my soda
He chuckled "Can I rap for you?" He asked
I chuckled and playfully rolled my eyes "Okay, go ahead" I sighed sarcastically
He nodded to the beat that played throughout the roller rink "With these old ghetto poems Thinking it's better for em' When they can let they thumb down from hitch hiking Inviting niggas into the temple they call the body Now everybody got it, had it, talked about it amongst they friends Coming around my crew looking Jazzy, wanna pretend Like you Ms. Goody Four-Shoes Even Bo knew that you got poked Like acupuncture patients While our nation is a boat, straight sinking" he rapped in the most unique flow I've ever heard
I was honestly impressed, but my stubbornness took over as it always does "It was aight I guess" I joked
His eyes widened as he chuckled "Aw come on, you can't say that wasn't dope" he complained
I playfully rolled my eyes "Aight I can't lie it was pretty dope" I complemented giving up my stubbornness
He chuckled "See that wasn't so hard was it?" He joked
We sat there in silence, I couldn't help but to study his features. I admired his smooth coffee brown complexion and his sparkling brown eyes not to mention his pearly white teeth. This man was a masterpiece.
"Take a picture it'll last longer" He interrupted my thoughts
I playfully rolled my eyes once again "Keep doing that and you're eyes gon' get stuck like that" he joked
I chuckled "Shut up" I laughed
He gazed at me for a moment "How'd you like to skate?" He asked
I thought about it "Sure wouldn't kill me" I shrugged
He held my hand as we began to skate which made me blush, we did a bunch of old school moves and tricks and laughed until tears came out our eyes when we failed a couple times
We were having such a good time we didn't realize the rink was closing until the music stopped playing and there was no one else but us except for the staff
Once we made it outside we stood in an awkward silence
He held my hand and smiled at me "You need a ride?" He asked
I smiled back "Yeah" I muttered
I gazed at his beautiful Red Caddilac convertible "It's tight right?" He smirked as he opened he door for me
I chuckled "Yeah it's nice" I said as I got in
He walked around and got in then pulled off, once he pulled up to my house "Rain" by SWV softly played on the radio
There was a silence "I had a great time tonight" he spoke
I smiled "Me too, I had a lot fun with you" I said
There was awkward silence once again.
Out of nowhere he spoke "Is it to soon to kiss you?" He asked
I blushed "No" I muttered
We leaned closer to each other and I felt butterflies in my stomach and chills went down my spine as my lips brushed against his then we started to make out, once things got heavy I had to force myself to pull away
He bit his lip "Damn" he mumbled
I blushed and let out a chuckle, I grabbed his hand and wrote my number down then I gave him a kiss on his cheek "Call me sometime" I said as I got out the car
He smiled "I will" he said
I smiled as I waved "Goodnight Andre" I said then I got in the house and leaned against the door with the biggest smile on my face
I hope y'all liked this one I'm still brainstorming ideas for this book 😭
