Sunshine.

That's what the boy sitting on the swing felt like. He felt like sunshine. His chakra radiated a warmth that seemed to cloak him from the outside world, enveloping him in his own personal bubble.

It was tainted though. With silvers of sadness and loneliness so deep, it reached her soul. His face betrayed it too. The loneliness and sadness that was intertwined with his beautiful, warm chakra, and suddenly, she felt a strong urge to take it all away. To protect him. To feel his warm sunshine chakra pure. Free of anything but happiness.

Haruno Sakura had always known she was different. Ever since she was able to understand the world around her, she just knew that she wasn't like everyone else. She understood that it wasn't normal to sense chakra to an extent that she could feel someone's emotions.

Her parents and the medic-nin who helped in her birth said she was chakra sensitive. Her mind and body are so in tune with each other that she feels every chakra signal in her immediate range to an absurd degree.

The medic theorized that it had something to do with the condition she was born in. Apparently, Sakura was stillborn. Her heart only restarted a minute after she was brought to the world, coaxed by chakra which must've caused some damage in her young coils. It was a medical miracle she lived.

Her short five years of life were spent in isolation, stranded indoors never taking a step out the door, not to mention her back yard. Her parents raised her as best as they could in a controlled environment.  But because of her sensitivity, she was a very fussy child.

Her bedroom walls were plastered with chakra barrier seals specifically made for her condition and were painted over with baby blue paint. She was gradually exposed to chakra signatures in terms of visiting relatives who always came into her room and never the other way around.

The day she was cleared to go out into the world for the first time was on her fifth birthday. Her mother was to accompany her and she didn't mind. She has always been with her everywhere she went.

They both agreed to go to a quiet place that didn't have a lot of people so Sakura wouldn't be too overwhelmed by the exposure of chakra and that was how they found themselves in a small, civilian park. No one was there except for a boy who radiated enormous waves of chakra that felt like the warm rays of sunshine.

She was at a loss, really. She has read multiple books that mentioned how interactions were supposed to be like but none of them really prepared her for the real deal. So she reluctantly decides to put her big girl shoes on and approached her current predicament like she does all the problems she has faced in the past: by confronting them straight on.

"You feel like sunshine." Sakura pointed out quietly and watched in amusement as the boy who had hair as bright as his chakra, jerk and almost fall off the swing in surprise.

"Huh?" He mumbled, lifting his head up to stare at her with blueblueblue eyes that rivaled the color of the sky.

"You feel like sunshine." Sakura slowly repeated her earlier statement and noticed with interest how the boy unconsciously inches away from her.

"Why are you sad?"

The question poured out of her mouth before she could stop it and she frowned,  mentally noting to herself to try and control her impulses in the future.

The boy stared at her as if she was one of the aliens mentioned in one of her books.  Blue clashed with green for what felt like an eternity before Sakura felt a blush creep up the length of her neck and spread all over her face.

"Why aren't ya shouting at me and callin me a demon, dattebayo? And how do ya know I'm sad? Why are ya even talkin to me?" The boy questioned, sounding confused. He had stopped inching away from her the moment she asked why he was sad.

Sakura felt the rush of heat that was flaring on her face cool down and her frown returning. She didn't know how to answer the questions he just asked her correctly.

"Why would I call you a demon?" She questioned back. "I don't really like shouting much. It's all just an excuse to make a lot of noise." Sakura answered honestly, looking over to where she last saw her mother and found her waving her over with a smile. It was time for her to go.

"And like I said earlier, you feel like sunshine. It's my first time feeling the sunshine. It's... nice. But your chakra is a lot nicer. You feel sad too. I want to take the sadness away. That way, you'll feel warmer. And happier."

The blonde blinked with his mouth agape at the girl in front of him and watched her smile shyly before waving and running towards a lady who was sitting at the park bench.

The only thing that came out of his mouth long after she had disappeared around the corner of a large building was a quiet and dumbfounded,

"Huh?"

*Hello everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? It is so nice to be back but I'm afraid it's not permanent. I felt bad for leaving for so long so I thought I should come and say hi and post some of the old chapters of KSOS for the new readers who have put it in their library. Thank you to those who are still here, waiting patiently for me to update my fanfic once again. I hope everyone is doing well. If not, how are you? I am here if you need to talk to a stranger. That's it for now. Have a wonderful day/night.*

Love, MarriedtoVanilla
